Warnie's Baggy Green Sold at Auction tonight

At 6.55pm tonight, I watched online as a Shane Warne owned and signed Baggy Green sold at Auction. It was estimated to fetch $12,500-$15,000. There was one bidder and it went for $9,500.

I'm really surprised Warnie sold it and somewhat disappointed. I know he prefers wearing the floppy but would Cricket Australia still be minded to allow him to present a baggy green cap to a debutant (eg Callum Bailey) in the knowledge Warnie had sold one of his?

Thoughts? :?: :?: :?:

For further details see lot 470 at http://www.leski.com.au. The auction is continuing as I type now and you can watch it transpire on line as well as view the catalogue.

Nope. Privately auctioned to a suite of private bidders.
Maybe he donated it to charity though and they auctioned it? That said, if this was the case the charity would have gone nuts with publicity and given warnie has his own charity I would imagine it would be the obvious beneficiary. So, simply off from one private collection to another I suspect.

What Warnie does with HIS baggy green is entirely his business. It's his property so he should be allowed to do whatever he wants with it without judgement IMHO. Whether CA asks him to present the cap to a new player should have nothing to do with whether he sold it or not.

I agree, whoever bought that got it for a steal. In 20 years time that will be worth a mint.
