India has become the 1st team in Tests to have its top 4 batsmen all score Centuries.
I think Aust came close to this feat back in the 90s against England. Was it Slater, Taylor, Boon made 100s and M.Waugh 99?
India 3/610 Dec v Bangladesh 5/58.
K.Karthik.........129
W.Jaffer..........138 r.h.
R.Dravid.........129
S.Tendulker....122*

Something needs to be done about these mis-matches as all they do is over-inflate Batsmens Records.

Of course they went easy on them(how hurt were Karthik and Dravid??) id just love to see someone run up the numbers against them one day, say 5/1600 in 4 days(with someone on about 850*)

You can imagine how hard it must have been in the field, or bowling at them. So you have one of the worst test playing nations in the world vs one of the best, and they have the extreme conditions to battle as well as the class of thier opponents. That's assuming that those cramped up and dehydrated batsmen weren't just recovering from a night out on the turps, but an ideal situation for creating a batting record IMO.

Setting records against Bangladesh and up until recently Zimbabwe should not count.

As good a lower order batsman Dizzy Gillespie is the fact he made a not out double ton says it all in terms of Bangladsh and it's pop gun attack.

What's the bet Sri Lanka are next in line to play the Bangers in a test series so the chucker can pad up his amazing throwing stats?

In one day games that person returns the ball to the keeper about 60 times
with unerring accuracy, with several direct hits.....

surely the umpires should do something everytime he hits a batsmen.

I mean thats not in the sportsmanship of the game throwing the ball directly at the batsmen

All records should count. Every era has had their easy beats. Take SL out of Border (and the Chappels?) records, NZ out of the Dons records.

If it were really that easy, it wouldn't be the first time this has happened. Easy to bag Dizzys 200 against the Deshis, but who did it before him? No one. Who has done it since? No one.

I agree with PAC1870

Aust v India 3rd Test 1985-86 in Sydney, top 3 batsman scored centuries against messrs Bright, Gilbert, Reid and Holland:

Gavaskar 172
Srikkanth 116
Amarnath 138
total 4 dec 600

It's not the top 4 but it shows that big scores can happen anytime v any country

Throughout history most countries (prob all bar Aust & England) have been 'minnows' in their early development but that's how they slowly get up to speed. If you start to discount certain tests from averages what about scores on flat-decks, scores when opposing bowlers are injured ...?

West Indies and India would be a better comparison for the Don, because the only Test Aust and NZ played together in up until 1972/73 (1945/46), he didn't play in it.

But I agree with what you are saying, especially the last paragraph. A truly phenomenal feat for someone to score 12.81 times their average.

you cant say that his 200 was not a real 200
any bloke that can spend that long at the crease and keep his concentration deserves every run he has made no matter who the opposition is!!!!
