Media Release

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) today announced the ING Cup side to take on Western Australia in Perth next Wednesday, January 25.

Pura Cup leg-spin star Cullen Bailey has been named in the squad of 13, and will make his one-day debut if selected in the final 12. Bailey, 20, took nine wickets in the outright win against Tasmania at the Adelaide Oval this week in only his fourth first-class match.

Gillespie, Bailey and Harris come into the side for Greg Blewett, Trent Kelly and Dan Cullen who all are recovering from injury.

The super sub and 13th man will be named on the morning of the match.

The West End Redbacks ING Cup side is:

Darren Lehmann (c), Graham Manou (vc), Matthew Elliott, Callum Ferguson, Cullen Bailey, Jason Gillespie, Cameron Borgas, Ryan Harris, Mark Cleary, Ken Skewes, Mark Cosgrove, Shaun Tait, Shane Deitz

The Redbacks will fly to Perth on Monday, January 23 and return on Thursday, January 26. They are currently equal third on the ING Cup ladder.

Bailey took 6/65 in district cricket yesterday in 43 degree weather, in good form at the right time.

They wanted to create history - "Let's become the first cricket team in history to make a score less than today's temperature".

Pity Dan Cullen's injured. We are really getting to the business end of the season now.

Don't want to be too critical since we are probably going to win the game but I think it's a bit disappointing that we only got 271 after being 2/231 after 40 overs.
Another ton for Cosgrove. I think the Aussie selectors are asking again now "flipper".
More runs (81) for Lehmann.

WA all out for 163 - victory to us by 108 runs.

Boof picked up two, along with Bailey's three. A bonus point is also secured.

Whatever ya do, never post that type of comment on BigFooty. You'd be opening up the floodgates.

Remember over in Perth during the '98-'99 season when the ABC (They're probably not doing it anymore either) did coverage of the Warriors home games and it was enjoyable commentary from Terry Aldermann, Glen Mitchell and Co. even though it was "only" Pura Cup games.
