The name Christopher Mpofu comes to mind, but I have a feeling he was from Zimbabwe.

the other bloke in the same game was pretorius (first name mite be dewald or something similar) and i think ul find smith was above pretorius and hall as smith wears number 49 atm in the series! so im guessing it would be in batting order and therefore hall would b 50 and pretorius would be 51.
there is also dawson and willoughby who debuted in the same game as rudolph when he made the double ton

The reason why Smith wears 49

This is where they are recognised in CSA's numerical system, a controversial badge of honour that starts with Kepler Wessels, who captained the first unified South African team back into Test cricket. The official excuse a few seasons back was that the "older" generation, the likes of Mike Procter, Barry Richards, Graeme Pollock and Eddie Barlow, lived and played in a "parallel universe" and as such could not be honoured in such a manner for having represented their country.

the above list represents the actual number when they were selected in the S.A. side

So Smith was the 286th player to represent S.A. in test cricket overall BUT the 49th player to represent S.A. when they returned to test cricket arena in 1992

Ian Chappell pointed that out during the Perth test and said that policy was ridiculous because it forgets (or omits) some of the legends of the game (or something like that). Records have always showed pre-apartheid players, and it's also worth mentioning that it was not the fault of these players - they were picked to play, so they did.

de Bruyn and Van Jarsvald (thats rough name spelling) not sure if they played tests or just one dayers but thought i would have a crack as they are rather recent! one of the first "black" people to play south africa was ngam or nmag and i only remember him because he debuted in the same game as hamish marshall
