LOL with Speed Racer...mentioned it to someone the other night and started singing the lyrics to them (albeit very badly)..."Here he comes, he comes Speed Racer, he's a demon on wheels..." and they had no idea what I meant.

Realised I was showing my age ;-)...then when I mentioned Great Grape Ape, Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, Deputy Dawg, Fearless Fly, Underdog, Shazzam and got more blank looks...egad :-)

Correct!

The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan was one of my favourites! Everyone looks at me blankly when I talk about the above too. I'd forgotton about Shazzam though!

I also liked Auggy Doggy and Doggy Daddy. I trying to remember who turnes into El Kabong the other day... a bun for whoever can remember..

Hehe i can recall a lot of those shows, i recall getting up at 5.30/6am on a Saturday morning to watch all those cartoons :D particularly Great Grape Ape, Dinky Doggy, Shazzam and the Hair Bear Bunch. Kimba the White Lion brings back memories too :) There was another one i can recall "Wait Til Your Father Gets Home" :)

Sadly these days, and probably the last 15/20 years the cartoons are built around marketing and theres not much quality for kids.

The Hair Bear Bunch! LOL!

Cartoons just aint what they used to be.. :( Athough I have been known to watch the odd episode of "Stanley "in the morning, as well as Mr Whiskas)

You're right, anime has taken over the world. The only anime cartoons I ever liked was speed racer, Astro Boy and Pokemon.

My parents owned a shop in Parabanks when I was much younger, my older brother and I would spend our Saturday mornings in Radio Rentals, across the mall from our parents shop, watching "Hey Hey It's Saturday" (not the tripe Darryl Somers dished up, the good one with all these 'toons). They would buy us morning tea (frog cake!) and an icee just before lunch time when the shops all closed. Good times!

I'm sorry, beagley beagley...

I loved THBB!! It was like Hogan's Heroes in a zoo.

I always thought former Centrals forward Sam McArdle looked like one of the Hair Bear Bunch.

From a quick re-think of cartoons as a kid, my pecking order was:
- Kimba the White Lion (until you realise what it actually says)
- Hong Kong Phooey
- The Hair Bear Bunch
- Jabberjaw
- The Flintstones (Betty, hottest cartoon woman ever)
- Cool McCool (c, c double o l, c double o l mc, cool mccool)
- Underdog
- Wacky Races
- Touche Turtle
- Josie and the pussycats
