Well since nobody else has claimed it, I might as well.

In the spirit of LL, the song happens to be currently playing on my computer. (Not one that you gave me, zipzap)

They exchanged a look
An hour later her voice shook
When her whispering died, she cried
Never wants to recover, she cried

Over 20 years old, British pop band, and anyone else would be utterly ashamed of listening to it 8)

I seem to recall they were much better to watch than actually listen to. Well they were when I was 20!

and you can still watch the lead singer if you buy certain seasons of a well-known BBC serial from the ABC shop.

(which constitutes a hint for everyone other than LL who obviously doesn't need it)

And in the third episode of the first series, said former-lead-singer delivered this immortal line:

"Look, look, I'm a bit out of sorts at the moment. I'm having a woman's period."

(and to cut a long story short 8) it wasn't Spandau Ballet)

The role played by the former lead singer was that of Kristine Kochanski, Lister's love interest in the earlier seasons of Red Dwarf.

Well it's fair to say that the band would have suffered from changed appearances  over time.

Don't talk to me about  not giving enough hints....

"changed appearances" = "Altered Images"? That's about all I can think of...

Happy Birthday, was that their song?

Right band, but Happy Birthday wasn't their only song, and wasn't the one I quoted from...

This one is actually playing at my place as I type. Sad but true. Hint it's a male artist and bonus bun for his real name.....

Once a lifetime twice a day
If you don't work you get no pay
I've been to the east I been to the west
But the girls I like most are the ones undressed

Now this one is playing on my computer as I type 8)

"Don't talk to me about love" by Altered Images. I can't believe Pseudo and I are the only ones that remember it.

New one...... (should be easy for you DW)

Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse
Tore down the House of Commons in your brand new shoes
Composed a revolutionary symphony
Then went to bed with a charming young thing.

I don't have this song on disc.

But it's Private Hell by The Jam.

Ok - here's one I'm listening to right now......should be easy for the music afficianodos out there:

'N' every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n' roll
Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold
