i think this came up on one of those american news programs on sbs about the war in iraq. i think it's a place in afghanistan somewhere???

Khyber Pass is correct. It's a pretty barren road and there's nothing to look at once you go past the fort, other than rolling barren hills. The fort is amazing, and is the last stop for Pakistan law (allegedly if it goes that far). The last 40 kms up to the border all largely run by the Afridi tribe, and the other various clans.
