When Colonel Light laid out the plans for Adelaide, he wasn't going to call it Adelaide. What was he going to call it, and who over-ruled him, insisting it be called Adelaide?

I don't know the answer, though thinking through it, if Light wanted it called something else, maybe he called a surrounding suburb that name instead?

You are right in saying it was Governor Hindmarsh who enforced the Adelaide name, now just for what the city was going to be called. Maybe because we didn't use the name, it ended up the name of a town in New Zealand instead? Or a pair of boots?

Just adds more fuel to the fire that W. Light didn't do much at ALL for the design of Adelaide.

From what I've read (IIRC) Kingston designed more of Adelaide, and then went to NZ..
