The massive Aussie '80s lyrics quiz

UPDATE UPDATE: hints posted for remaining unsolved lyrics - see further in thread.
UPDATE:
Rather than post answers here, I'll simply highlight in red the questions which remain unanswered. That way anyone else who stumbles across this can have a go at answering the questions by themselves without spoilage. I'll post all the answers at the end when this quiz is finished.
Also I've added a couple more lyrics at the end. I meant to include these in the quiz but somehow neglected to copy them from my notes. A virtual bun to anyone who beats LL to the answers!
Goodpeople,
In order to celebrate both Australia Day and my own perverse musical tastes, I present the following quiz of Aussie music from the 1980s. This quiz has been a long time coming, with questions added in dribs and drabs since the end of the last SANFL season. This is what happens when one finds cricket boring.
I dedicate this quiz to MIT80s, the usual quizmaster on this august forum, whose respected efforts I do not dare try to better. May he enjoy this quiz in the role of participant, and may he indeed prove to be a magpie of the '80s!
The rules, such as they are:
1. for each lyric, name the song and the artist.
2. all artists are commonly regarded as Australian or New Zealand acts. An artist need not actually be Australian to be regarded as such. e.g. John Farnham was not an Aussie citizen until the late '80s.
3. there is at most one song by any artist or group.
4. an artist or group is defined only by its name. eg Flowers and Icehouse are considered different despite being the same band.
5. almost all songs were to my knowledge released in the '80s. All songs were released as singles, had videoclips made, or otherwise achieved notoriety. None of the songs is an obscure album track.
6. some songs may be covers of non-Australian and/or pre-80s works. In all cases we want the Australian/NZ '80s artist.
And now, the quiz:
1.
I'm gonna drift into that void,
I'm flying through space, I'm an asteroid
2.
I only like dreaming all the day long
Where no one is screaming
3.
She lives in a tower armed with defences
She learned from her mother and friends
She walks like a Pharaoh, dresses in day-glo
When she's in pain she pretends
4.
You made an impact. No doubt about that.
It was a good thing. Now I Want it back.
5.
You couldn't make it harder if you tried
I used to trust you, then you lied
6.
Dime or a nickel anyone could buy, voodoo of any kind
She had potions and lotions, herbs and tannin leaves
Guaranteed to blow your mind
7.
For rich and for poor ones the world is so wrong
8.
My head is a kind of a boiled potato
9.
All I see is washed away
I am the voice left from drinking
10.
I smoked my last pack of foreign cigarettes
11.
No more empty self-possession, vision swept under the mat
It's no new years resolution, it's more than that
12.
Woke up this morning and its raining again
Stop and wondered if its somethin I said
Words of sorrow and words of spite
Ringing in my head right through the night
13.
Seek and ye shall find, that is what they say.
14.
She got high heeled shoes, she got rhythm and blues, oh yeah
15.
Backwater bride white leather hide
Head soaked in mud and gin
Cold rusted moon hell fire lagoon
Set for a masterpiece of sin
16.
One is one and two is two
You want me and I want you
17.
I was beating on her like an anvil
Beating her out of original shape
18.
Now's the time to assess the state you're in.
Can't afford to lose gotta strive to win.
19.
When it feels like I'm in the Twilight Zone and I just can't make it through
20.
Well he's a fat little insect
21.
Lock it up so far inside and throw away the key
Like looking for the way out in a maze
22.
It can chill me to the bone.
Give me wings to fly on my own.
I am in control.
23.
I finally met an American who said he voted Reagan in.
He said he won't do it again if the world lasts that long.
24.
They were standing on the shore one day, saw the white sails in the sun
25.
And Julie's got a tattoo
She keeps it really well hid
26.
Well, all these dragons are just a-draggin' me down
I've been a-pickin' things up from the underground
Like a trackless tram I'm Bondi bound
Sittin' in the depot all alone
27.
I am covered in filth, at least it's my own
My smell, well you know you can't get higher
28.
Now they fall again on the streets tonight
And we're waking up every day,
Looking this way looking that way
29.
We're giving you all the love you need
30.
I see the others reading, standing
As the Manly Ferry cuts its way to Circular Quay
31.
I'm living a lifetime in every minute that were together
And I'm stayin right here forever
32.
If you listen you will hear a reckless heartbeat on the inside
33.
There she stood this fancy fashion creature
And everybody knows she is a little senorita
34.
My life's such a valuable thing
Some things don't fade away, I don't mind
35.
I've unwrapped all this other junk and there's nothing that I like
36.
Oh the winner tells his story, the loser hides in shame
The winner steals the glory, while the loser takes the pain
37.
The databank knows my number
Says I gotta pay cause I made the grade last year
Feel it when I turn the screw
38.
She's still fussing over her homework
Fooling with a logarithm she's going berserk
39.
I'm looking for an answer and I'm trying to find,
Why I think of you, all of the time.
40.
Say goodbye. Never die.
A chance at one thing is surely something.
41.
And if it's there don't let it get you down, you can take it.
And if it hurts don't let them see you cry, you can make it.
42.
When she walks by she brightens up the neighbourhood
Oh every guy would make her his if he just could
43.
Red faced, red handed too, You caught me with my trousers down
You walked in the room after all these years then found I'm not alone
44.
Santa Claus is wondering why there's nothing on his radio
45.
I took you to an intimate restaurant
Then to a suggestive movie
46.
Funk atomic bomb swept down from America
47.
Can I walk beside you in the rain
Just a little smile will make my day
48.
I go in, I go out. I work it out.
49.
Another night has bit the dust
And we have done the things we must
Lay it down and let me help you dream
50.
When I was young I was so naive
I didn't believe no I didnt believe, I didn't believe
Never thought that we'd last this long
Always thought that they'd drop the bomb
51.
And it's something quite peculiar.
Something shimmering and white.
52.
And now I'm standing on the corner, all the world's gone home
Nobody's changed, nobody's been saved
And I'm feeling cold and alone
53.
Speak to me just one more time
Say that you love me one more time
54.
He's one of the few things I feel a part of
55.
I feel like an open book, page by page revealed.
You've opened the locks and doors, and broke the seals.
56.
I said, what's goin on, you're just showin' off
Well I'm crackin' down on your crackin' up
57.
I know it's hard when you have tried,
When the conversations terror you have tied.
Making out you still don't know,
All I have is alcohol so let me go
58.
There's a bar right across the street
He's got a need he just can't beat
Out on the floor, he shuffles his feet away
59.
You know I can forget we have fought before
I've seen inside your heart and I know it's breaking
60.
There comes a time when every man must fight
When he believes in justice and right
61.
I'll lay on a lilo till I'm lobster red
I still feel the motion here at home in bed
62.
Catch a glimpse, remember it forever
And still I try to keep myself together
63.
Bossmans' only daughter
She ain't his and she'll never be mine
64.
Open fire on my burning heart.
I've never been lucky in love.
65.
I can see Sgt. Pepper standing high on the hill
With George John Ringo and Paul
66.
In Heaven His throne is made of gold
The ark of his Testament is stowed
67.
I got your eye in my direction
You seem to smile and then you walk away
I know we're running the same line
You know it's only a matter of time
68.
I'll stick with you kid, that's the bottom line
69.
It must be love
'cause every time I see you walk away
I need the feel of you to keep me strong
70.
Well I'm a better man but it's getting damn lonely
71.
So we gather round the table
Raise our champagne in the air
72.
You came along in the wintertime.
Wrapped me up in your warm sunshine.
And I feel fine.
73.
Send me a postcard, a picture of the riviera.
I'll send you a view of Sydney Harbour.
74.
So now we smile and we joke
And this pain is all behind us
75.
All the time we were apart
I thought of you
You were in my heart
My love never changed
I still feel the same
76.
Oh is it any wonder, the streets are dark
Is it any wonder, we fall apart
77.
And we made our tents a home, V.B. and pinups on the lockers
And an asian orange sunset through the scrub
78.
I can't resist you no matter how I try
After all this time can't believe that I'm
About to take this ride
79.
'cause the folks are gone and the place will be mine
80.
But someone should tell them there's a fire in the sky
And someone should tell them this is still 1985
81.
An expressway is planning to come thru our lounge
Eviction notes in business coats,
Never renovate they just tear it down
82.
I got friction I can't stop
I'm a dancing spinning top
83.
What's the matter with you?
Has the cat got your tongue?
Well if you don't like the beat
Then don't play with the drum
84.
When the moon is your silent partner
To the night of a friendly crime
The star light can bring desire
In the darkness I'll make you mine
85.
You give me one good reason to leave me
I'll give you ten good reasons to stay
86.
Well I thought I'd roll one myself, I said "Chuck us the Tally-Ho Bart".
87.
You to me are sweet as roses in the morning
88.
I never had the heart to tell you what's going on behind your back.
I never had the soul to let you know why, I never should have come back
89.
So you think you're so refined, ahead of your time
Leaving all your friends behind, are you hoping to find
Love is a city, 'cause you're young and feeling pretty
But you won't even know your name
90.
Two things hang around, two things remain
Two little things have got us
91.
Got your first letter the other day.
Since I got it I can't put it away.
92.
Here she comes again now, hear the boys sigh
Feel my heart a-thumpin'
Say come on, come on, come on, come on, yeah-yeah
93.
It's somewhere down there between daytime and the dark
94.
There's a corner to this room. A telephone chair, and memories.
95.
Honey you do me wrong but still I'm crazy 'bout you
Stay away too long and I can't do without you
96.
At this point in time I stand alone
To the phone I'm holding on
Outside people stare as if to say
We know there's nobody home
97.
Keep it in, cut it out, kick it out
Here it comes
Keep it in, cut it out, kick it out
98.
Count it out now one by one
Quatro, cinque, sette, otto
99.
You asked me what I was thinking.
I was thinking of a padded cell.
100.
You can feel it in a heartbeat
You can feel it like a soul
You can hear it in a basement
You can feel it in a backstreet
101.
Are you addicted to attention? Do you do it for effect?
102.
Boy, it make-a me sick, all the things I gotta do
I can't-a get-a no kicks, always got to follow rules
103.
You say you're undone by his kiss
But don't you think for once in your life it should be like this?
104.
Though some say I'm a genius to others I'm a loon
Someday you'll see people like me walking on the moon
105.
So let the time keep rolling on, it's on my side
106.
You send situations I don't want again
I'm finding my own way now without you there
107.
You know we used to have so much you understood me.
You never really understood me.
108.
Not talking 'bout religion, no
Not talking 'bout fashion, no
Not talking 'bout money, no
Not talking 'bout fight, from the right
109.
Oceans of passion within your mind
Don't want to be your posession before it's time
110.
I can't let it get me down.
Change my smile into a frown.
111.
Stealing from your tribe.
You know that that is a crime.
112.
I pretend that I'm happy but I'm Mr. Blue
I pretend that I'm happy since I lost you
I pretend that I'm carefree my heart and I
I pretend that I'm carefree but I'm living a lie
113.
There's a girl falling in love near where the pianola stands
114.
I live in a town much bigger than yours
Where everyone yearns and everyone yawns
I'm mending my head back into shape
With pieces of wire and rolls of tape
115.
What are you looking for, your world is in your hand
And you know just where your standin' by the way your heart's unfoldin'
116.
There are murders, that aren't murders, and they happen every single day
We break our promises, we find it hard to, break away.
117.
Every part of me needs to know every part of you.
118.
Now the wisdom that the years bring can't help us anymore
We're the last to leave the party, the first to ask for more
119.
I don't need sociology, All I need's a hand to hold me.
120.
In my imagination there is no complication.
I dream about you all the time.
BONUS QUESTIONS:
121.
Should I depend on them? Should I depend on all of them?
122.
'Cause what we had was strawberries and cream
Your favourite colours to make you smile

Goodpeople,
In order to celebrate both Australia Day and my own perverse musical tastes, I present the following quiz of Aussie music from the 1980s.
