Oh well if everyone’s going to write a quiz I might as well give it a go too. Hope you don’t mind Mags.
Quite simple…read the clues and come up with a name. Be gentle…I’ve never tried writing one before 8-[

Q1 I was born in 1603. I’m a Dutch navigator. I’m a sea, an island, a road, a bridge, a bay, a lake, a river and a glacier. Abel Tasman

Q2 I’m a teacher from France who departed this world in 1852. I live on in what I left behind for the benefit of millions. A case of the blind leading the blind ? Louis Braille

Q3 I’m an author. My hero has been a Scotsman, an Englishman, an Irishman and an Aussie and a few more besides. But my greatest adventure was about a flying car. Ian Flemming

Q4 I’ll let this screen goddess give her own clues. I was snow white - but I drifted. It’s not the men in my life, it’s the life in my men. Mae West

Q5 I’m an author most of you should know. I was short-listed for the 2004 Miles Franklin Award (hmmmm didn’t they sing about a little bullfrog) Peter Goldsworthy

Q6 I was born in 1596. I’m one of the worlds deep thinkers maybe even the deepest. Cogito, ergo sum. Rene Decartes

Q7 I’m Italian and a poet so I was bound to fall in love. But I only saw her once, we never spoke and she married another. I’ll probably go to hell for that. Dante Alighieri

Q8 I’m another author, a Yank this time. I loved my mo and travel at home or abroad. I hated slavery and golf. Mark Twain

Q9 I’m a Swiss miss although I sound French. I’m most famous for waxing lyrical in London. I’m as popular with tourists today as I ever was. Marie Tussaud

Q10 If my father had been the King of Tyre then I really could call myself a pop princess. Dido

Q11 I’m a famous dame who could hold a note. Even though I died nearly 77 years ago I’m still quite a dish. Nellie Melba

Q12 I was born in India of Scottish descent. You and hate me for being the Pom that came over in ‘32 to try and stop your beloved son. Douglas Jardine

Q13 I’m an English politician. I led my party but not my country. I’m more famous as a fashion icon of sorts…Lest we forget the donkey jacket. Michael Foot

Q14 I’m a man who lived 120 years. Books have been written about me. I’ve been portrayed on screen by Charlton, Val, Mel and Burt to name but four. Moses

Q15 I’m a noble poet and a hero to the Greeks. I’m a very good swimmer but don’t be misled you wouldn’t want me anywhere near your daughter (or your son for that matter) as I’m mad, bad and dangerous to know. George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron

Q16 I was the first for England and the sixth for Scotland. My mother lost her head and I nearly went out with a bang. My name lives on in the good book. King James
