One Hit Wonders of the '80s

Postby Pseudo » Mon May 19, 2008 2:57 pm

OK kids, you know the drill: I give you a lyric, you give me the song title and artist.

All of the answers in this quiz were one-hit wonders (OHWs) in the '80s. My definition of OHW is very liberal. If an artist is known in Australia (or at least, to me 8) ) primarily for a single song, then it's a OHW. Some artists might have had other hits elsewhere (eg the UK). Some artists may have had a string of hits when working with a particular group, but only one well-known hit as a solo artist or working on a side project. A handful of "few hit wonders" might have snuck in. None of the artists is Aussie - I exhausted most of them in an earlier quiz.

Blue questions have been correctly answered.

1. Nearly died, mortified, nearly lost control.

2. Youve been through the fires of hell and I know you've got the ashes to prove it.

3. It's like having a dream where nobody has a heart.

4. Prepare yourself, you know it's a must.

5. None of them received a hero's welcome.

6. 'Coz I never felt this way before, like a dog always begging for more.

7. I close my eyes for a second and pretend it's me you want.

8. Misery loves company but she will never foot the bill.

9. His name is Ted. Can you believe that?

10. Life is too short to play silly games. I tell myself I won't do that again.

11. Sounded sad upon the radio, he moved a million hearts in mono.

12. We play along while rushing cross the forest. Monkey business on a sunny afternoon.

13. Mercury Dan back in Vietnam, I'm a hot retard, Marquis de Sade!

14. A circumstance in your naked dream, your affection is not what it seems
still waiting on artist, I think...

15. I started to fall and suddenly woke

16. My brothers doing fast on my mothers TV, says she watches to much is just not healthy

17. So I'm pretending I'm not caught in between the devil and the deep blue sea

19. 'coz me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass

29. Twisting the bones until they snap, I scream but no-one knows.
