Queensland voters are going to turn on the government when they realise how much money this is going to cost them!

Initial figures are its going to cost them 5 billion and benefits to the state will be 8 billion (17 billion nationally).
If it only costs them 5 bill in today's figures then they're laughing.
Who cares anyway, there's only possible financial benefit for SA.

Didn’t Sydney cost $6bn all those years ago and these clowns think they can spend $5bn for something that won’t be started for 5 years or so?

Being in projects, I love these estimates. We both know that 5bill is a guestimate. It'll blow out and cost more plus extend over due delivery date. They'd be lucky to get away with 10bill.

As far as the benefits are concerned, I still don't understand how they measure them. Unless it improves between now and then I feel that they are a guestimate as well.

Whilst I agree it will blow out 84% of the infrastructure is there already and a lot of the rest such as roads and transport had been budgeted for no matter if they got the Olympics or not.
Anyway, I don't care, I loved the Sydney Olympics and hope I'll still be alive in 2032 to experience another games in Australia. :D

If the predictions about rising water levels due to global warming are right this Olympic Games may be totally devoted to water sports! ;)
