The Value of Gold

Postby silicone skyline » Mon Jul 21, 2008 3:11 pm

Was just thinking in the wake of gold medal hopefuls Nathan Deakes and Jana Rawlinson's withdrawls from the games, in terms of a financial career, what sort of monetary value can an athlete place on Olympic gold?

When you win gold, is there a financial reward as well or do you just get the medal?

If your an Australian swimmer, a fair bit of reward. If your a Judo medallist or take the Gold in Archery probably nothing, except for what ever the AOC stipulates.

Better off being a Gold medallist for Qatar or Jordon. Get a Rolls, new House, a bit of coin etc etc....
