Australia's Michael Diamond survived a three-man sudden-death "shoot-off" to make the final of the men's trap shooting at the Beijing Olympics.

The dual Olympic gold medallist finished locked in equal fifth place with Germany's Karsten Bindrich and Croatian Josip Glasnobic after the qualifying rounds.

The three went into a shoot-off for the remaining two spots in the afternoon's six-man final.

Diamond and Glasnobic both shot three traps before Bindrich faltered, missing his third attempt and was eliminated, while the other two advanced to the medals decider.
