Yesterday I did a tour of Oxford in the UK and the guide was spouting on about how England was ahead of Aus and blah, blah, blah. Not really being into the games as a whole, I said well done etc and that I wasn't aware of the tally as I hadn;t been following closely.

Looking at the table today though. we are actually WELL ahead of the brits and have been for some time. Sure they had a day or two where they had overtaken us in the GOLD count, but not only have we caught that up, but we're trouncing them in the overall medal count stakes.

Fingers crossed we win a few track n field medals or this post will come back to bite me on the khaiber.

And on track'n'field, how bloody BORING is it!!!!

Great Weightlifting Story

Postby The Big Shrek » Wed Aug 20, 2008 2:47 pm

Well done to the Big German Steiner.

Lost his wife in a car accident, she was saving up to watch him compete in the Olympics. The big fella needed to lift 10kg more than he had ever lifted to get the gold and threw up 258kg like it was a feather.

Gotta love the supers, big boys throwing around big weights!

"That brings an absolute tear to your eye." Absolute? What the hell was that call?

Equally as bad is Tom Williams and Peter Colquhoun (?) trying to sound like they know what they're talking about in the kayak and BMX.

Start the bad commentary thread mate. Those two, Simon Reeve isn't too bad for someone with no idea in gymnastics but I still get a chuckle.
