The Paralympic Games have seen damaging scandals regarding cheating in the events. After the 2000 Sydney Games, in which non-disabled athletes were entered in the Spanish Basketball ID team, athletes with intellectual difficulties were suspended indefinitely by the IPC. The IPC has stated that it will re-evaluate their participation following the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Been watching he coverage tonight and how bloody good was that basketball game the Aussies down all night and won it in the dying seconds well done and thanks to the ABC and ABC2 for showing live coverage of the games.

Defiantly trying to talk the other half into hanging round after the Olympics in London 2012 to see some of the paralympics.

Awwwwwwwwww moment....

Young Ellie Simmonds takes Gold for GB in the women's 100m freestyle. Knocks around 3 seconds of the British record and she's only 13 years old. Youngest ever Paralympic medal winner for the UK. Don't know the politically correct term for her disability nowadays so apologies if mine is considered offensive (it's not meant to be) she is a dwarf.

Was lovely watching her being interviewed...don't think I've seen anyone so happy...laughing and crying at the same time. At this rate she'll be a great choice for us in 2012.

Good on yer kiddo :D

Horrible pile-up in the Women's 5000m Wheelchair race just before the bell for the last lap.

Several of the girls still on the track being checked over. Don't think your lass Christie Dawes was caught up in it....but haven't seen confirmation of the results yet.

Yeh they've replayed it a few times now on the BBC There were about 3 of them still lying on the track a few minutes after the race finished. They've just said that the Japanese? girl has been taken to hospital for precautionary x-rays, another girl is ok (wasn't Dawes) and another has facial abrasions (again wasn't Dawes).

I'll let you guys know if she gets mentioned here. Hope she was ok.
