Hard to argue with O'Niell or Wood, the results speak for themselves. If Wood says that the Chinese swimmers he also coaches work much harder than the Aussie swimmers do, it shows why China are killing us in races!

Sheesh! And I thought it was Gen Wii to blame:

Can't shake the feeling that the limelight and impending post-Olympics piss-up has been more important for most of the swimmers.

Well said.

McCulloch said the exact thing.

Yes, we are bitterly disappointed, we dont train for year to not win, but today we were not the best on the track, but were still good enough for bronze.

The swimming has been an obvious Aussie disappointment (no individual goal - first time since 1976), but currently in terms of TOTAL medals we still rank 8th. The 7 nations ahead of us (US, China, GB, Russia, France, Germany, Japan) all have MASSIVE populations compared to Australia.

Sure I would have liked to have seen more GOLD (Getting up at 4am each morning to watch the swimming finals is really taking a toll on the body) but hell, Im still a proud Australian supporter....a supporter of a nation that has won 17 medals..8th most of all 200+ countries participating in London

Im blaming the obesity epidemic in the western world, this is why Kazakastan have more gold medals than us and Kenya WILL finish with more than us. ;)
