Wasn't it a South African? Officials are refusing to use underwater vision which clearly shows several swimmers breaking the rules.

We complain that athletes don't give honest answers, then when they do we complain they're making excuses? Most of these athletes work their backsides off for years to be at their very best on the day and often something goes wrong and they aren't at their best. I don't think any of them have suggested they weren't beaten fair and square but what's the problem with them giving an honest answer as to why they didn't perform at their best? As time goes on I think they'll be satisfied with what they did but when you are a genuine chance to win and don't get it, the first reaction for a true competitor is to be disappointed. How about WE harden the F up and stop looking to pot everyone we can.

Not quite gracious in defeat as the olmpic ethos stands for though. I didn't win because I was up all night on twitter (not because my fellow competitor was better).

I can guarantee that we make more excuses everyday in our lives for not doing things than these athletes ever will.

OLYMPIC swim boss Leigh Nugent has bizarrely attacked Australia's "easy life" society as the reason for the nation's worst pool performance in 16 years.
