I agree!

if the "walk" (pretend running) is allowed then surely darts should be. Even the shooting, what a load of crap that is. Im un sure, but what happened to the shooting where the player is outside, and theres random discs thrown from a machine in any direction, and they shoot them from there?? Is that still an olypmic sport??

darts, you serious????

you can't be pissed while in the olympics  ... the walk is very technical, fair bit of skill involved... it's not like walking to the shops...

skeet shooting is still in the olympics...

im sure darts would be a little more professional - meaning no beer allowed at the olympics .

Pretend running, maybe has a little skill, but what a load of crap it is. I walk to the shops like the walkers in the olympics do WB ;) doesnt everyone walk like that?????

Just merge the walking with the shooting .. Maybe throw in a hurdle or too .. Now there's a great event!!

Seriously those commenting on darts obviously haven't watched the major tournaments in recent years - make that the last 20 years??? They are not allowed to drink alcohol during the play which is fair enough as it has massive TV coverage these days. Whilst dart players may not be athletic figures the hand eye coordination needed is extermely high as is the hours and hours of practice to fine tune their accuracy! If how you looked was essential then we would not have weightlifting, discuss or shot put!

In fact in comparison to similar types of sport which get a run at the Olmpics - Archery and Shooting, darts is probably harder in reality as they have no object to hold or steady them to fire the projectile at the target. A dart has to actually be thrown by the participant not fired by an object / machine for want of a better word held by the participant.

On merged sports - they should combine a number of shooting events with possibly the following:

Equestrian dressage - take the horses and riders out!

Substitute clay targets with trampoline performers or divers.

Syncro swimming and rythmic gymnastics with any shooting event.

Anything with a friggin' horse in it should NOT be in the Olympics. The horse deserves the medal, NOT the person riding it.

How these people can call themselves athletes is beyond me.

would never work, as australia would kill everyone in the comp even if it was just amatuers playing, hence the reason there is no world cup for AFL as australia would be so dominant. If it was a world sport, then yes would be good

Surfing and surf boat racing surely would be as legitimate as many of the aforementioned poncy sports? Water skiing, wake boarding, hang gliding, tuna tossing, sky diving and perhaps artistic bungy jumping.
