PSV Eindhoven continued their excellent start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Feyenoord in Rotterdam to stay top of the Eredivisie, although FC Twente still trail on goal difference alone.
Striker Danny Koevermans put Fred Rutten's men in control with two goals in the first 20 minutes to take his league tally to eight in just seven games.
Andwele Slory halved PSV's advantage in the 23rd minute but Otman Bakkal added their third in the 37th minute and there was no way back for the home side.

Steve McClaren's FC Twente matched PSV's record of five wins and two draws by beating Heerenveen 2-0 at the Abe Lenstra stadium.
Slovakian wide man Miroslav Stoch grabbed both the goals for the Enschede club in the 22nd and 72nd minutes.

Ajax are a point behind PSV and Twente after a four-goal haul from Luis Suarez saw off Eredivisie new boys VVV Venlo.
The Uruguayan, who has been a revelation under Martin Jol after being handed the captaincy at the start of the season, took his league tally to 10 goals with one in the third minute and three more in the second period as Ajax won 4-0.

In the day's other game, Utrecht moved up to fifth with a 1-0 win away to Den Haag as Dries Mertens netted the only goal with 20 minutes to go.

A late goal from NEC Nijmegen midfielder Lorenzo Davids condemned Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar to a surprise 1-0 home defeat on Saturday evening.
The former Feyenoord man struck three minutes from time to clinch NEC's second Eredivisie victory of the season, and their first on the road, to move the Nijmegen outfit up to 10th in the standings.
AZ remained fifth having picked up 12 points from their first seven games.

Elsewhere, a second-half Mads Junker brace secured Roda JC a 2-0 home victory over NAC Breda.
Junker headed his side in front nine minutes after the restart and doubled their advantage three minutes later.

Vitesse Arnhem claimed their second league win of the season with a 3-1 home triumph over promoted RKC Waalwijk.
Lasse Nilsson put the hosts in the ascendancy in the third minute, but that goal was cancelled out in the 24th minute by Fouad Idabdelhay - moments after RKC defender Gijs Luirink had seen his penalty saved.
Vitesse got their noses back in front through a Santi Kolk penalty seven minutes before the interval, however, and Paul Verhaegh sealed matters with the third four minutes into the second half.

Darl Douglas' second-half equaliser earned a 1-1 draw for Heracles Almelo at home to Sparta Rotterdam.
Dele Adeleye had put the visitors ahead on the stroke of half-time but parity was restored in the 63rd minute.
Sparta were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute when Emmanuel Boakye was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Willem II ended a run of five straight defeats as they came from behind to beat FC Groningen 2-1 on Friday night.

Fans were fearing yet another loss when Koen van de Laak put the visitors ahead after only seven minutes.
But Willem II did not roll over and after Sergio Zijler levelled with a fine solo effort six minutes before the break, Christophe Gregoire fired in what proved to be the winner from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute.

Re: Dutch Eredivisie

Dutch Cup results w/c 21st Sep

Ajax survived a late scare to progress to the third round of the KNVB Beker with a narrow 2-1 win over second division Apeldorn.
Martin Jol's side looked on course for a routine win when Vurnon Anita fired the Amsterdammers into a 52nd-minute lead while a Hesdey Suart own goal nine minutes later further increased the advantage.
Nacer Chadli pulled one back from the penalty spot for Apeldorn 13 minutes from time to ensure Ajax were forced to endure a few nervy moments before the final whistle sounded to confirm their safe passage.

Feyenoord, one place below Ajax in the Eredivisie standings in fourth, enjoyed a more comfortable evening as they trounced amateur outfit Harkemase Boys 5-0.
Diego Biseswar opened the scoring for Feyenoord before further goals from Leroy Fer and Ron Vlaar put the result beyond doubt at the break.
Former Holland international Roy Makaay stepped up to finish the job off in the second period, netting twice to underline the crushing superiority of the visitors.

In the night's other second-round match, Gemert ran out 1-0 winners over fellow amateur outfit Achilles 29.

FC Groningen put their Eredivisie worries aside on Wednesday evening with a 4-2 victory at high-flying FC Utrecht .
Nicklas Pedersen and Tim Matavz notched two goals apiece for the winners, who lie third-bottom of the league standings. Erixon Danso and Ricky van Wolfswinkel gave the scoreline some respectability for the hosts.

Fellow Eredivisie strugglers Heerenveen also enjoyed a comfortable night out in the cup, romping to a 7-0 win at SDC Putten.
Michal Papadopulos struck a hat-trick, with Viktor Elm bagging a second-half brace and Hernan Losada and Oussama Assaidi also on target for Heerenveen, who lie second-bottom of the league standings.

FC Twente ran out 8-0 winners at SC Joure thanks to goals from Bernard Parker (two), Wellington (two), Nashat Akram (two), Dario Vujicevic and Nikita Rukavytsya.

Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven edged De Graafschap 2-1.
Hugo Bargas restored parity for De Graafschap four minutes into the second half, cancelling out Danny Koevermans' opener, but Ibrahim Afellay grabbed the winner just five minutes later.

Marcel De Jong's first-half double secured Roda JC a 2-0 triumph at IJsselmeervogels.

Keisuke Honda's brace and a late goal from Sandro Calabro saw VVV-Venlo trounce ADO Den Haag 3-0, while Leonardo's double and a last-minute penalty from Matthew Amoah earned NAC Breda a 3-2 win at Willem II.

Elsewhere, Baronie beat Barendrecht 5-4 on penalties after 120 minutes of football had produced a 1-1 draw, Rijnsburgse Boys needed extra time to beat Go Ahead Eagles 1-0, FC Zwolle won 4-2 on penalties at Sparta Nijerk after a 1-1 draw, Capelle thumped Westlandia 4-0, De Treffers edged Veendam 2-0, FC Den Bosch prevailed 4-0 at Lisse and WHC won 1-0 at AFC.

Ajax came through a stern test to claim three Eredivisie points with a 3-0 victory against a spirited ADO Den Haag side to keep pace with the early-season pacesetters.
Demy De Zeeuw opened the scoring after 26 minutes, but the Amsterdam giants had to wait until 19 minutes from the end to add their second through Marko Pantelic.
Siem De Jong then added a third in stoppage time.

Feyenoord recorded their fifth win of the Eredivisie season as they beat NAC Breda 2-0, although the late dismissal of Denny Landzaat took the shine off the result.
Andwele Slory and Leroy Fer found the target for the Rotterdam club, with the second goal coming shortly after Landzaat had been given his marching orders.

Heracles Almelo held on to a 2-0 victory during a tense finale at NEC Nijmegen to finally get back to winning ways.
Everton headed the hosts in front in the ninth minute and their advantage was doubled in the 24th thanks to Bas Dost.
NEC were handed a lifeline 16 minutes from time when the referee somewhat controversially sent off Olivier Ter Horst and awarded the hosts a penalty.
But Youssef El Akchaoui hit the post and Heracles clung on to take the three points.

Struggling Heerenveen collected only their second three-point haul of the season so far as a 2-0 victory left Sparta Rotterdam winless from five home games.
Viktor Elm's penalty with 17 minutes to go sealed victory after Paulo Henrique had put Heerenveen in front late in the first half.
It was a deserved victory after Heerenveen dominated possession and showed signs they are ready to get their sputtering season into gear.

FC Groningen earned only their second win of the season as Danny Holla's first-half free-kick gave them a 1-0 victory over Vitesse Arnhem.
Koen Van de Laak missed a late penalty for the hosts but it made no difference to the final result as Vitesse had already wasted a couple of good chances to equalise.

On Saturday, Ronald Koeman's troubles at AZ Alkmaar continued as the defending champions slipped to a fourth defeat of the season.

Sander Keller's 14th-minute goal gave FC Utrecht a fifth win in seven matches and maintained their place among the early pacesetters.
Utrecht netted the only goal when Nana Asare's free-kick on the left found Keller, whose late run into the box was timed to perfection. He outjumped the AZ defence and headed the ball down and past goalkeeper Joey Didulica.

A first-half blitz gave leaders PSV Eindhoven a comfortable 3-1 win over Willem II at the Philips Stadion.
Excellent strikes from Otman Bakkal and Ibrahim Afellay sandwiched an Arjan Swinkels own goal as the hosts raced into a 3-0 lead.
They could not add to their tally in the second half and Willem II pulled one back through Frank Demouge four minutes from time, but it was comfortable for PSV.

FC Twente recovered from conceding an early goal to keep pace with PSV at the top by beating VVV-Venlo 2-1.
VVV stunned the hosts when Achmed Ahahaoui scored after just three minutes, but FC Twente quickly turned the match back in their favour with strikes by Bryan Ruiz and Douglas putting them in front by the 24th minute.

RKC Waalwijk earned their first win of the Eredivisie season in emphatic fashion as they came from behind to thrash Roda JC 4-1.
Having failed to score at home before this game, RKC made up for lost time as they replied to Willem Janssen's opener with goals from Fouad Idabdelhay, Charlison Benshop, Derk Boerrigter and Fred Benson.
Although RKC remain bottom of the table, their first points of the season will do much to lift the gloom at the Mandemakers Stadion.

I'd love to see Suarez in England.
He's been prolific in Holland and I reckon he could score plenty in a decent side in the Premiership. (hopefully Spurs  )
