I bet the Italians would love if that happened. They're the first in line if that happens, right? Or would an Oceanic nation take the Aussie spot in this case?

Well there are 7 or 8 teams who fell at the final playoffs stage, so who knows.

Under FIFA rules Honduras would have first right if we pulled out.

That’s only the initial squad. Gets trimmed to 26 players in the coming weeks and eventually to 23 on the eve of the Cup

9. Fran Karacic,
10. James Meredith,
11. Josh Risdon,
12. Trent Sainsbury,
13. Aleksandar Susnjar,
14. Bailey Wright
Midfielders:
15. Josh Brillante,
16. Jackson Irvine,
17. Mile Jedinak,
18. Robbie Kruse,
19. Massimo Luongo,
20. Mark Milligan,
21. Aaron Mooy,
22. Tom Rogic,
23. James Troisi
Forwards:
24. Daniel Arzani,
25. Tim Cahill,
26. Apostolos Giannou,

He's OK as a backup centre half (I'd much prefer him to Jurman). But surely he won't play in the midfield unless Jedinak is unavailable.

Having said that Nick Pope tops off a great season by getting an England call up. He is/was the reserve keeper behind To Heaton who was also called up before his injury. Heaton on the England Standby list, along with Tarkowski

With just over two weeks to go I think we need to start making some predictions...

Australia;
-will get spanked by France 4-0
-will then take point from Denmark with a 1-1 draw, Tim Cahill coming off the bench to rescue us late
-before a disappointing loss to Peru 2-1. Rogic scoring first then as we park the bus trying to secure win Peru will score twice in the last ten minutes

My final 4 are:
France v Belgium
Germany v Spain

Germany to beat France in the final
Spain to beat Belgium to 3rd

Golden Boot - Antoine Griezmann (FRA) with 8

Golden Ball - Marco Reus (GER)

Golden Gloves - Hugo Lloris (FRA)

Best Young Player - Rodrigo Bentancur (URU)

Fair play trophy - Belgium
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do
