Australia 4- Czech 0

Looked brilliant attacking but defence still a concern despit the clean sheet. France would have put 5 past us.

Clear we are going to play a counter attacking style of football which suits our attack going forward.

Hopefully Jedinak coming back in will sure up the defensive side of our midfield.

Pretty decent hit out though, there will be lots of goals in games involving us, hopefully it us that score a few

We looked good in patches but played woeful opposition who were completely disinterested. Was good to score a few but still very suspect defensively and if we play that expansive against France it will get ugly

The final 23-man squad is in:

Brad Jones, Mat Ryan, Danny Vukovic; Aziz Behich, Milos Degenek, Matthew Jurman, James Meredith, Josh Risdon, Trent Sainsbury; Jackson Irvine, Mile Jedinak, Robbie Kruse, Massimo Luongo, Mark Milligan, Aaron Mooy, Tom Rogic; Daniel Arzani, Tim Cahill, Tomi Juric, Mathew Leckie, Jamie Maclaren, Andrew Nabbout, Dimitri Petratos.

Troisi probably the stiffest to miss out, along with Wright, although he was unlikely to play ahead of Mooy, Rogic, Luongo, Jedinak, Irvine etc., so no South Australians in the squad. Reckon a good 7 or 8 of those players have no place at international level.

Anyway, another friendly next week against Hungary, then France in our first tournament game the week after.

Troisi always has been overrated. Very vanilla player IMO

England beat Nigeria 2-1 at Wembley with goals from Cahill and Kane before 1/2 time

Troisi can consider himself unlucky considering McLaren wasnt in the original 27 man squad and only came in as cover for Juric who was passed fit.

It would have been a toss of the coin between McLaren, Troisi and a couple of others. Let's be honest, whoever got the nod is just making up the numbers and are unlikely to get much game time. I would have been disappointed if either of them got in ahead on Cahill or Arzani. Bert and his team would have seen enough in training sessions now to work out who is worthy and who is not. I have faith in him to make the right calls.

Thought nabbout looked pretty good too. In the absence of a gun striker he seems like he could be a decent enough target man to tee up the likes of rogic and leckie

Yet Milligan still gets a gig...

Milligan and Kruse have photos I’m certain of it

I think Milligan has to play purely because our defence is shaky as hell. if he plays at CB I don't mind it

Kruse I agree with Jim

Agree. Don't mind Sainsbury and Milligan together at the back. We better hope that Sainsbury don't get injured though. I would hate to think what might happen against France if we had Milligan and Jurman as centre backs and Jedinak sitting in front of them. Our skipper has a big heart, but boy is he slow over the ground.

apparently he played as a CB for Aston Villa on occasion. Could be an option, would allow us to play all three of luongo rogic and mooy too

Australia 2 Hungary 1. 2 own goals and a keeping blunder. Seriously this is palmed off as world class sport!

Can we take anything from these hit outs? We smack the Czechs and then the Czechs beat Nigeria 1-0

France draw with the USA
Germany fall over the line against Saudis
The same with Spain over Tunisia

Glorified training runs with players more interested in not getting injured...

Play Arzani. He adds a point of difference.
We could easily play him ahead of Kruse.
He has the potential to do for this campaign what Cahill did for 06. And if he doesn't? I'd still rather know than have Kruse play and not learn anything.

And eff Milligan.
