During the live telecast this morning the picture froze for about 5 seconds, just as the Peru player was about to take their 5th shot. So, we missed Peru's 4th goal being scored. Luckily there were no more hiccups.

Apparently the Peruvian keeper had notes about our penalty takers written on his water bottle but Redmayne picked it up and threw it over the fence lolol

Gee, the Kiwis are dirty on the referee in their 1-0 loss to Costa Rica that saw them fail to reach the world cup.

SENZ radio having multiple commentators/ experts on expressing frustration on the refs ability.. or inability.

Ian Smith even read out the refs updated Wiki page that clearly had been hacked that had alluded to allegations of match fixing, connections to Costa Rica football official.

He was then quick to note that the content/page had been removed.

Very filthy! :)

Have they announced the fixtures for the WC as yet...…

If not hoping we draw Denmark up first before they acclimatise to the conditions especially for training etc... also hope we get France last game, hopefully they have secured qualification by then and have nothing to play for against us.

Ps…..disregard we got the total opposite, France, Tunisia, Denmark

Tunisia may be ranked higher than us, but football in Tunisia is in chaos at the moment with many instances of match fixing. Whether this impacts their national team remains to be seen. Our squad is nothing special, but we should be competitive with Tunisia and even Denmark.

Tunisia recently beat Japan 3-0 and are a more than capable side.
I’m hoping we can at least nick a point against them and Denmark

Not long to go now. I was chatting with a few boys from the Barmy Army after the cricket last night and they all said they were struggling to get enthused about the world cup. Being played in Qatar is a part of it, but main issue is the timing. All supporters of European teams are used to watching world cups or Euros in their summer. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. I'm sure the level of interest will be high when domestic comps stop and the world cup starts.

Qatar becomes the first hosts to lose their opening match (2-0 against Ecuador)

Around half the spectators did not return after the half time break.

Not surprising .... has there ever been a host nation as poor as Qatar? They were pathetic on and off the field.

Nah, while both are average, the Saffers average world ranking would be higher than Qatar and they did get 4 points in their group stage in 2010. If Qatar get 2 or more points, I'll concede. :D

I don't have a problem with a Middle Eastern World Cup in principle...after all it is the 'world cup' and football is the 'world game.'

For mine though the host nation has to be a worthy participant in their own right which in the case of Qatar and even SAF when they hosted, they weren't.

Like everyone else i also don't like the fact it was a bought world cup rather than on the quality of their application. Let's not mistake it though this isnt the first 'bought' world cup. Pretty much every world cup and olympics is bought........except of course when Australia win it, we do everything legit.

From a team performance perspective, South Africa weren't worthy, but FIFA wanted it in Africa and South Africa was the best option. I'm also ok with it being played in the middle east, but Qatar ..... seriously. I think they should have looked at a shared arrangement similar to USA/Canada/Mexico.

Yeah SAF had the infrastructure or capabilities to build which allowed them despite their on field record compared to other African nations.

Problem with a shared middle eastern world cup is none of the nations would justify an on field spot so 3 positions would be taken up by countries not worthy.

Realistically the only middle eastern country suitable to host both for on field and off field would be Saudia Arabia but yeah thats causing the winter olympics enough drama.
