Not wanting to have a dig at Flaggies, as I know how hard recruiting is in this current age, but is recruiting Div 6 players the way to go? Surely not......

Didn't Harvey play for the same club in div 6 then go on to play Association in GSFL and B&F?

Stupid comment really. Some handy players floating around. Including a couple that have been recruited by div 1 clubs and a couple more to the great southern.

Sensing a bit of jealousy here reppoh? Maybe you're just a bit sour that no one thinks you're worth anything!! Not knowing the bloke, or anyone at Flaggies for that matter, he was the only player we ever had a plan for when we played your mob. Then again, he could have just been the best out of a bad bunch.....

Not at all Addict... I couldn't care what other people and clubs thought of me as a player nor anyone else at our club.

Butcher left for a fair amount of coin to play at Onkas, the club met with him in the off-season and for what ever reason he did not decide to return to Flaggy and instead stayed on with Onkas. Our club is not one that will pay 1 person $500+ a game if we can get 2 or 3 quality players that suit us more than Butcher. And yes Butcher is a good player, but we have a young forward who kicked 70 goals last season and obviously isn't playing for $500 a game. We need to better our team in other areas rather than the goal square when we are recruiting players...

Quite a contradictory statement there Reppoh, considering you just recruited a Full Forward......

Sorry, to be clearer: if we were to spend $500+ on a player it would not be on a FF, it would be a CHB or Midfielder.

Not a hope in hell he is on anything like that.

Agreed Bat Pad, think it was actually a touch more.

Did some searching on Sporting Pulse.

Butcher kicked 53 goals for the year 2nd in comp.

Hills Central would be right up there as one of the most competitve leagues outside the SANFL system (SAAFL Div1 better)

So from the money that gets thrown around these days seems like he would be on what he is worth.

FHFC are probably a gun or three short of being competive against the big 4 and maybe they need to fork out the $$ to get the players to get to the next level.

Their juniors seem well structured so only a matter of time before the Bushpigs push into septembers.

Sam Smith kicked 67 goals for us in 2010.

It's only my opinion, but I can't see how FHFC could justify paying Butch $600 while Sam stays on standard match payments.
And then, what about the mid-fielders who get the ball to these forwards. They may suggest if not for them he wouldn't get the opportunities?
It's just keeps going around in one big circle.

WLF I also have faith that we will be pushing our way through September in the very near future.

Sam is on a bit more than standard match payments 85WAGY but I 100% agree that there is no point paying that much for Butchy when we already have a quality FF and now a second forward that can hopefully snag a few goals.

Also think it's a bit early to be baggin the new guy just because he played div 6 last year, no one on here would know what kind of coin he is on, i would safely say a s**t load less than butch, so don't think anyone can already say it's a bad investment before we see him play.

Just great to see flaggies finally signing some recruits after trying hard for the last couple of years

Butchy is a top lad and a very good player. Cant knock a guy for getting paid good coin to play...

If Sam Smith's still there Flaggies don't have to worry too much about quality in front of the sticks. His leap is awesome.

McDonnell kicked 60-70 for Happy Valley 2 years ago did he not??
From a div 6 (Now div 7) club and I reckon at the time they were in div 7 too.
Some good forwards running aroundin the lower grades still and with better deelivery from the middle they might do better than you think
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Woodhouse played in the RMFL through the "Jervois era", but seriously, there has been alot of chat about $am$ recruits, but the guys mentioned, (even Trev on a smaller scale) have past their best by about 4 years. Woodhouse played 3 years ago here & was done back then! Hope these guys aren't taking spots from the vast amounts of v/good kids the club has, but a think $am is Smarter then that. If they end up getting Braidwood, every fullback/CHB will be best on atleast once a round, dud!

I'm pretty sure Braidwood has gone back to Mt Compass hasn't he?
