Good to see that the emu can take the heat. Each training the young boys r pushin them selves to the limit. Can the emus go from strength to strength? With the talented youngsters comin through and experienced seniors that continue to stick it out. I believe so. Bring on 2010!

Two of Morphett Vale's Legends have retired this year. Martin Short and Scott Pollard. There football careers have followed a similar path.
Both are second generation at Morphett Vale.
Both are son's of gun's. Martin's father Terry played in 3 premierships sides at Morphett Vale and
Reg Pollard 4.
Both are Product of Morphett Vale Juniors.
Both are 5 time premiership players.
Both are 1 time premiership Captains.
Both are retiring due to injury.
Both love the Morphett Vale football club more than Sam Kekovich loves lamb chops.
Scott Pollard is a multiple winner of the goal kicking trophy.
Martin is multiple winner of A grade runner up best and fairest.
Polly will be remembered for his fast leading, strong marking and accurate kicking for goal.
Shorty will be remembered for his helicopter kicks and his smart football brain.
Both are very good at passing on there knowledge to our junior players.
Shorty was also very good at passing his knowledge on to umpires, coaches and any one Else
that needed his advice.
In the words of A>C>D>C WE SAULTE YOU. and thanks for the memories

Apologies to everyone at Morphett Vale, apparently I made a mistake by telling everyone on this forum last week that Polly was playing his last game last Saturday against Cove. It was fairly common knowledge and nobody told me it was a secret, once again apologies, I will have to learn to shut my big mouth hey.

I thought at first you should have kept your big mouth shut but in the end it was a good call.
The people of the sfl paid there respect to scott.
It was great to see the black pants come down and wish scott well.
You helped Scott get the send off he deserved.
Your post was spot on.

my thoughts exactly OME.

when i read this, my first instinct was to confirm with my good mate that plays for the emus, and he said it was leaked our. i thought it was weird that it wasnt supposed to be public knowledge.

and as for one of the lines in your piece ol' man.....

"Polly will be remembered for his fast leading, strong marking and accurate kicking for goal."

remember playing against him 3 or 4 years ago, we were triple teaming him, i got the biggest punch you've ever seen on the ball, i mean it was if he held it there and let me attempt to burst the ball, i hammered it, but he took the grab still. from that contest on, i was actually scared of his abilities and had no idea what he was capable of. i wouldnt have been surprised if he clicked his fingers and i turned into a cane toad wearing a nuns outfit. i'm still scared of him.

Thanks Old Man Emu, the only reason I made the post was to give people an opportunity to pay tribute to Scott which I believe he richly deserved. To me it was sad to see such a great player end his career in this way.
