qwerty wrote:cheers for the results fellas,

Interesting that happy valley wont clear richo, as noarlunga cleared chad beard to them quite some time ago. Happy valley have a habit of not clearing players to other clubs. Can i ask anyone how they can actually stop a player from going if they are not contracted to that club, do they have a right?

.

Just to add a bit to this one:
It is club policy that Happy Valley always refuse the first clearance application regardless of who it is and particularly if the player is applying to join a rival club. The only genuine reason for refusal is,as was mentioned, being 'unfinancial'.
Jayce (not Josh as someone said) Richardson applied for a transfer last season to Kangarilla after he'd been training and then cut at Glenelg. This was refused of course and he was called to a meeting at Happy Valley where he was told he wouldn't be cleared under any circumstances. His father is a big Happy Valley-head and also had put pressure on him so he agreed to play. During the course of the season he:
* Regularly missed training sessions with limp excuses (ie claimed to be working when in actual fact out with his girlfriend)
* Regularly missed compulsory club functions (ie player presentations after games, claiming he had to work but in actual fact out with his girlfriend)
* Never once attended sunday recovery sessions
* Was fined on several occassions for other misdemeanors
* Generally played below his standard
* Disappeared completely with about 3 rounds to go in the season and would not answer his phone to anyone at any time.

None of these issues I should point out applied to his brother Matt. Jayce's behaviour left a bad taste in the mouths of many people at the Valley which would explain his clearance difficulties to Noarlunga. You would notice that James Whetstone was cleared from the Valley to Noarlunga relatively easily this season despite his attempt to transfer there last season unsuccessfully.

Good luck Robbie Donaldson...you're going to need it.
Tiger to Viking to Bulldog to drinking cans and smoking darts in the outer again. That's footy.....

Ah interesting info there vallysvirgin.

But you have to ask the question if he doesn't want to be here then what is the point of making him? You only have to look at the list of reasons about his attitude to footy and your club from last year to show that holding a player against their will is not good for your club or the individual.

Observer,

From what i was told on the weekend Jayce has gone to strath and hopefully will play for Noarlunga the follwing year.

Also Noarlunga lost by a goal or two on the weekend in what was a very average game of footy, apparently Noarlunga still has 8 or so first choice players out and going by their performance on the weekend they would want to have if they were going to seriously push for a top four finish. Always been the way down there blokes will start training once games start.

Reynella apparently pumped mount barker by 8 or 9 also

Fair call Qwerty however Jayce's principal reasons for wanting to go to Kangas last year (by his own admission) was to be a big fish in a small pond/win a B & F/get himself a better profile...play for dough somewhere this season.
He was a HV junior, had ('had' being the principal word) plenty of mates there and his family is nailed onto the club. I agree that if a kid doesnt want to play there you get rid of him but he had no issues with HV at all. You don't let A-graders go to teams in your own competition.

i totally agree observer, there is no point holding a player at a club against there will and to be honest i know this league means alot to quite a few people, but get a life. if the kid doesnt want to play there, then he doesnt want to play there, holding him there isnt going to change that, just let him go, i cant stand it when clubs do that and to be honest it makes other players who might be thinking of going there think twice, geeze who would want to get stuck somewhere they dont want to be.

If a player has done the right thing by the club I don't know of any clubs that won't clear them eventually, however I know that some clubs have a policy to not clear them on first request as this gives them a chance to talk to the player again and try and keep them. No clubs want to give up a good player to an opposing club!!

Observer
I am not sure of the actual score from Flaggies trial but it is hard to work out where a team is at from a score that is taken from a six quarter match (a's and b's combined) against a team from a different league!
Hawks trial was against a team in their own comp, what was the final score?
