Will Brighton finally get there this year?
Has the flies been abit shaky past few weeks?
Is the old crew at MV ready for the textbook finals form?
Or will the up and coming Shoes with the unstoppable Golding bring back Noarlunga as a legit powerhouse?

I'm tipping repeat of last year in GF but Bombers to prevail after learning from past mistakes.

he's not unstoppable.......

.......just takes 13 men to stop him, that's all.

in all seriousness, who would brighton play on him. he'd be too big for whitford surely? double team him with someone coming over the top?

Thats what happened the last time they met...and a few goals were from forwards with no opponent once the ball hit the deck. This all changed as most know in the last quarter when for some reason the big fella was put back in defence. The Brighton defenders were able to do as they liked in that last quarter and set up many a goal with quick transition from defence.

A posting on the HFL page suggests Golding is off to Blackwood next year, so Noarlunga better take full advantage of him in this years finals if this is true.

looks like the 'mesiah' wont be at the flies next year.
great effort by him, really turned the club around. Hopefully they get up for back to back!!
i reckon there will be a few retirements this year!! so maybe one more proper crack for a while. Flies will give everything this finals series and will be much better than their last month.

Flaggies were fantastic today. Big ground (in good condition), dry weather, no wind and Flaggies ran Porties off their feet. Margin would have been far greater except for some poor finishing on Flaggies part ................ about the only blemish in an otherwise superb win. As a side issue, the 19th man i.e. The Red Army, were out in force; an outstanding statement by the club's supporters!!!!!

I wonder what concessions Morphettville Park will be looking for next year after getting flogged today. More player points and an easier draw. They were shown up as big pretenders today.
Next year they will have the harder draw, lets see how they go then.

Had to jump in the jalopy so I could get a look at at least half of each game on Saturday. Thought while I was leaving Noarlunga that the Bombers seemed to have the Emus covered.
Morphett obviously proved me wrong and nearly won it. Can anyone tell me whether they actually hit the front in that last quarter ?

Went down to Emu's - Brighton game and the bloke going the biffo obviosly didn't play again, was a good game of footy, thought Emu's played well against a better side in Brighton who again look a bit wobbly in finals, surley they couldnt lose another big final to dip out this year again..

Early in the season Ron Fuller fired shots at SFL clubs for not promoting kids to SANFL clubs such as his South Adelaide.
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/sout ... 6003067710

Whilst it is fantastic for kids to go to South and all clubs should promote kids to higher levels, it has to be a two way street as far as returning players to Community Club level.

South 18's are sitting well and truly anchored to the bottom of the ladder with little prospect of winning even the toss. They are refusing to release players back to local clubs for finals, surely they have enough of a list to allow this to happen.

In Coves case we have two players in the 18's one who has played 7 games at South and 11 at Cove, while the other has played 2 at South and 16 at Cove, in fact he was only called up to South at the end of August. Given they have played the majority of the year at Cove, they should be allowed back to Cove 18's for finals.

One could say maybe South have their junior program wrong if they now find these two invaluable to the South 18's but not earlier in the season. That is not taking anything from the boys as they are very very good footballers.

Fuller and co can rant and rave about local clubs not supporting or respecting them but they also need to respect the clubs who feed them.

If it is about development surely playing tough finals footy is better then playing in 20 goal beltings????

Whilst i understand your frustration for not having these 2 players available, who as you have suggested would make a big difference to your side - i do not agree with releasing the players if south's home and away season is still going. Regardless of the score line, being within the system at South would have an enormous benefit for the young players, especially for their development. You never know this could be the game a list manager comes to watch (given they are playing Norwood this week, highly likely) they play well & maybe noted to be watched the following year. I bet if you asked the players they would say, 'i would like to be apart of Coves finals with their mates' but deep down they would want to play every possible game they can at a higher level...

Vics01 comments sounds like a plea from a club that has had a forgettable season and desperate for some consolation. A few weeks back he was applauding the league debut at South of a young Cove lad. Can't have it both ways Vics. Brighton's Under 18 have been hit hard this year with lads playing at the Bay. Some who couldn't even make the Bay Under 16's last year so weren't expected to be playing Bay Under 18's this season. The Boys have had an up and down season with a very young Under 18 group but were rewarded with a great win over Reynella yesterday and look forward to the challenge of Cove this week.

DTH I always get a laugh when I read your posts. We are pretty happy with our club season 6 out of 8 teams in finals 5 in the four.
Yes great that Tyson Brown played A grade at South, he was there all year and deserves every accolade he gets. A completely different case.
It is when because of what ever reason they South come at the end of the season and take kids late in the season then threaten them with 'if you dont play with us your future in football is shot.' That is crap.

Yes I realise that other clubs are in the same boat, this does not however make Burrows attitude to the community clubs right. My comments are more about Souths inability to manage their junior programme. They are quick to paint local clubs as villains but show no respect to the clubs who support them.

DTH I suppose the proof will be in the pudding this weekend when Cove & Brighton go at it in all junior grades.

As for the other comments if a list manager is worth his salt he has seen the kids by now.

Bag the Points may be able to confirm. But I think it is the first time ever since the top 8 system was introduced (11 years ago) that in the A grade that 7th beat 6th in the elim final (flaggies, porties).
8th is still yet to beat 5th ever though.

Just looked it up ---- it happened in the first two years of Top Eight.
2002- Port (7th) 16-9 d. Kangarilla (6th) 11-11
2003- Reynella (7th) 9-15 d. Cove (6th) 5-4

hasn't happened since (until 2011 that is)
