As for getting ahead of themselves, yes this club expected to win the flag & create history of 5 in a row, all i heard throughout the year ( after losing a few ) was yes finals time is different game , we step up & play a brand of football far superior than any in the Southern League, well where's the superiority now?

Interesting to hear you bringing up bad player/coach relationships, something you know a bit about NM?

Tell me does the fact that they won 4 in a row even count when you started on your little "cracks are showing" rant? It was always going to come to an end one day.

Well done on spotting it after the event though.

For someone that claims to know alot about football NM you sure say some ridiculous things at times.

I don't think anyone can take away what Morphies have done in the last decade and anyone that doubts that is an idiot, especially if they think this is the demise of the Emus. C'mon NM not even your that ignorant are you.......

Have you ever won 4 premierships in a row?

I had $50 on him actually ZC, only picked up a lazy $750.
Pretty hard to place a bet like that after the event.
You are right ZC with one thing, the success of Morphies had to come to an end some time, hey don't get me wrong i do respect what the clubs done & i have mentioned that to The Mexican in a past post.
I 'm not taking anything away from Morphett Vale & what they have done in the last decade & i never said it was the end of them.

Missed me Flyer? Im blushing! Been off work the last 2 weeks but got the all clear from the medicos and am back at the coal face today. The Mex is also on holiday so dont expect too much from him/her.

As for $cotty Pollard well ive not heard anything about a lucrative move to the GSFL, but knowing him as I do I'm not sure if he'd be all that keen to sit in the goal square for a team that (from what very little I know about the GSFL) doesn't seem to get the ball down their end too often?? Not much chance of bagging a 100 that way...

Also on the topic of drowning sorrows/boozing: whilst on my medical holiday from work, I was soldiering thru DTH and KD's turf at the Brighton Esplanade on Monday (after the GF aka Mad Monday) and who did I see, none other than reigning SFL premiership captain Josh Ramsey, and reigning SFL Norm Smith medallist Craig Heath. Still smarting from our GF belting I didn't say anything to them, but I did observe them and they seemed to be:
- sober (Ramsey appeared to be driving)
- not wearing their medals or seedy guernseys from Saturday
- ordering a coffee (well they walked in to a coffee shop, I didn't follow them in - I assure you I am not a stalker)

Poor form Cove - id be expecting, nay DEMANDING a week long bender if my club had won a break thru A grade flag! Vics/Jono what's the go???

CT no doubt they were sampling some of Jetty's Rd finest produce, Coffee at the espy, muffins from edge cafe or even an early mezze platter from Medusa's (all ex or current bomber sponsors) so thanks boys.

It might taste sweeter knowing they beat us all.. but I agree , 1 week bender minimum.

Thats why we had all that success from the B grade down. The bloody tax on RTD's such as Cruisers meant the young lads were forced back onto the softies. Along Jetty Rd, the Beach Pit and Medusa's are both loyal Bomber sponsors.

Well I suppose that's fair enough then Jono - but IMHO they should have been waiting in the Espy or the Seacliff sipping Cooper's finest in the sunshine instead of sipping double chocolate frappachinos while the boys were getting inked up!

And on celebrating GF victories appropriately, why not take a leaf out of "the fallen giants" the Emus book, what you wanna do is grab 6-8 utes, cram on as many boozed up and sleep deprived players as you can sporting flags/beers/kids, and stage a police escorted motorcade down South road! Its still the most appropriate, dignified, and humble way to show ones satisfaction in taking out the flag IMHO...

Feel free to get us back sometime DTH - tho it wont be easy, our dung hill only has grass on it for a small 2 week window in early March!

You'd be better off just trashing our away change rooms and tearing the door of its hinges.... oh oops no you already did that about 6 years ago

That was Coach Mark Elsdon who got white line fever more than the players. Lovely bloke away from the coaches box but a firecracker on game day. He once took a tin of paint to a game at Hackham and painted an oval with dots and crosses showing game plans etc. on the concrete floor of the changeroom. He also had a habit of running onto the ground after close wins and goading the opposition and telling them they were a bunch of losers etc. A real character, who always paid his debts including the replacement door at Morphett Vale. Another was when Mark Jolly won the 1997 Mail Medal in our first year in SFL. Squid Ayris was a warm favourite and got pipped in the last round. Squid was spewing and was being consoled by mates and Elsdon (who was our Pres at the time and pissed) walked up and starting hanging sh-t on Squid and almost caused a riot.
