My thoughts are the same as yours ZC- a bit of fitness, competition and a perve, perfect ingredients for team bonding...I think if the boys can develop a committed core before Christmas it will drive more numbers at the 'official' pre-season start. Cheese Twisties give the boys a wave from the balcony if you see them, I'll probably be somewhere nearby (drinking capacity, not running!)

Was Mex mate, ol' mate ZC was finding excuses for your boys not to be doing the extra yards... I'll let that one slide through to the keeper mate...

Once again, in your own little world Mex...

I thought they should be training once a week not once a fortnight.

Keep up old man.

Porties have been training for a couple of weeks now, as far as i could tell it was just the youngsters trying to get a head start for next year, which cant be a bad thing if they are going to have a real crack at south next year. I did observe that the A grade coach was out there taking training too, which would be a real positive for the kids.

Agree that getting burnt out as a youngster is a possability, but if these kids are at drafting age next year and were really determined to give it one big shot then this is a positive thing. Doing this year after year would definately burn you out, and then you might end up being a washed up hack by 21!

Totally agree Magoo. I can understand a jog every now and again to keep a level of fitness but to start having organised training sessions about 4-6 weeks after the GF at local level is ridiculous. You may even run the risk of excluding some blokes who have other sporting committments (or just want a break from footy) over the summer period.

Come to think of it i believe a few of us had this same argument 12 months ago.....

probably the smartest thing you have posted on the forum!! well believable anyway.....

starting pre-season now is just ridiculious..... as mentioned by swooper there are other ways of keeping fit until then.

the only pre-season that interests me is getting the body fully prepared for footy trip...

Good call KEYDEFENDER. i think the reason is that the WIFE BEATERShave won the last 6 A Grade summer Grand Finals at the M/Vale stadium . I've been told there mostly footballers and just destroy teams and are very physical players. back in my day( too long ago to remember ) there were alot of teams playing from different footy clubs wich created a great comp and was hilarious to watch especially the friendly trash talking that went on.

To my understanding it is just a few of the 18-19 year olds who are keen to have a real dip at South Adelaide next year.
