We took plenty out of the game Vulcan. Always a good encounter with Morphett Vale and wish them luck for the year!

Was a great game of footy & perfect trial game played in good spirits! Both teams going pretty much full tilt with what they had out there (both clubs missing a few A graders).

Always a good hitout between these two!

understand both sides well
they have the cap in the metro leagues
my son wanted tp play with his mates at henley a couple of years ago and made their third side in under10
the following year they brought the cap in and he was told to go to lockleys which even tho is 5 minutes up the road is not where his mates were and quickly fell out of footy
a shame but i understand where he was coming from and also where the league was coming from
i suppose if the kids really want to play that much and their parents can get them their they will but it is really tricky
something has to be sorted so we loose no more kids to sports in general
i believ they use the same caps in basketball in the metro leagues

That's exactly what I am talking about. You would rather kids get lost from the game. Make a great culture and the kids will come, then their friends. Kids are there for their mates. So many get lost in the game in juniors you don't want to encourage it further

They will eventually be lost to the game when most of the 120 kids from 14's to 18's at the stronger clubs can't get a senior game when they get to that age. Lets say a top club has a senior squad of around 70 players ATM. 40 would still be there in 5 years thats around 80-90 of the current 13YO and over juniors that might not be at your club in 6 years time. Obviously with employment, cars, girls etc some would not progress, but a few would just not get a game.

it was not by my choice he decided to drop out
i was prepaired to take him where ever and when ever but because of the whole mate issue he missed
if the kids are a few years older i can understand but at the real young age i dont see problems with them staying where they are

Yep a decent hit out, some good signs from some of our youngsters. Now on to play more GSFL opposition at Victor Harbour on Saturday. Hopefully we have Bodey back this weekend, as Saturdays team must have been one of the shortest we have ever put out at A grade level!

BJ how did you pull up? From where I was standing it appeared that late in the game you had Joshy “Zihad” Sampson lined up for a decent bump – but then it looked like you made a snap decision to instead try and deliver the bump using your own face to Joshy’s shoulder area… A gutsy strategy!!

Emus beat Victor Harbour by 5ish goals in the A grade, and also won the B grade tho i dont know the score. We stayed down at the Victor club rooms on the Friday night and trained pretty early on the Saturday morning, so we were pretty tired and sorry for ourselves by the time the A's kicked off, but still looked pretty good in patches and took a lot out of the game.

Big thanks to Victor for letting us stay the weekend!

Playing Hahndorf away this Saturday in our last trial.

Wouldn't read too much into Flaggies win over Onka's. Both sides had periods of domination as the opposition rested palyers and tweaked their teams. Also, both had a number of first choice A graders not available. Having said that, it was a good hit out for both teams and played very competively. A good day all round.

Reynella taking on Ironbank @ Ironbank this weekend also. Thoughts on this SFL v HFL showdown?

Reynella will smash them, although might get a shock on the size of the ground!

Where have Valleys been playing their trials? Their ground has been hosting cricket and I see they have the Grand Final there this weekend.

The a's played Friday night with the removable mats over the pitch (used to be used for 20/20 footy). Juniors played at mv sunday i believe?

It does look like both clubs (more importantly Reynella, in the context of this forum) have had a lot activity. The wine flies seeing plenty of players leave, judging by the clearances page..... Noticed Elijah Ware is also listed as having a clearance pending?

Out of interest; Dutchy when was the last time you watched the teams in question play?

Seen a fair bit of both leagues over the last few years, however didnt realise the Winies have lost so much this year so maybe it will be close, either way its only a trial, we must be all hanging out a bit too much for the real stuff to start to be arguing over trials!
