It was against Aldinga, would i be right in saying this was Aldingas first win for the club this year? They would have got there and celebrated like it was a grand final! Unless of course it was called off before Sunday...

It was called off before Sunday but that wasn't necessarily a reason not to celebrate. It's pretty exciting. 8)

Nathan played well but not outstanding
It is his first hit out though and takes time getting used to new team mates
Shoes tagged him heavily - maybe to their detriment

All 4 didn't play in A grade though - Damian still playing b grade but was in the best for the 2s so might get call up next week?

Backwell was listed as 3rd best for MVP on the weekend, kicked a couple of goals. I went to the Valley to see Eagleton play and he was very quiet in the first half, but started to have an impact in the second half as he worked his way into the game. Will only get better as he learns the voices and the strengths of his team mates. Valley were very good after about the 10 minute mark of the first quarter. Jon Eagleton was a stand out, along with Mahar? (Number 2) and Petersen-Grey.

Agree with Mister Footy's assessment of his game and he was wearing a very heavy tag. Was a good crowd out there considering it was abou 2 degrees (or felt like it!!)

Heavy tag?? N.Eagleton played up forward for majority of the the game what do want the defender to do sit 5m off?? Jon Eagleton was outstanding the shoes looked uninterested for most of the game, have they got some injuries or just not playing well???

We must have been at a different game, as every time he even looked remotely close to the ball there were hands all over him. As they seemed to run out of steam and he moved to the midfield, he started to get more of the ball. The Shoes did seem to drop their head when Valley got a few goals up, but I wouldn't have said disinterested. There was though a far less intensity than their opposition. Golding looked dangerous early, but Beagley certainly won that battle over the full match.

I agree. Saw both games and Cove clearly outplayed their opposition both times.

I saw the 2nd half on Saturday, Cove seem to play a congested/contested style of footy, probably as it suits them on their home ground. Not sure it would hold up on big grounds come finals time.

Agree, don't think this will help come finals time, but by the same token may have rescued Cove's season that was looking pretty dodgy earlier in the year. They have certainly changed the way they play and is very similar in style to Edwardstown who keep it very tight and put a lot of numbers around the stoppages. This has won them some games, has minimised losses in others and may get them to the finals, but don't think it will take them any further than the first week.

Great having some interest in the comp with a good number of upsets happening. Question for anyone who wants to respond. Which team has been the biggest surprise this year and which has been the biggest disappointment and who is your flag favourite.

For me:
Biggest surprise-Morphettville Park, looking very dangerous
Biggest disappointment: Flagstaff Hill, started with the promise of big things and has failed to deliver.
Flag Favourite- Happy Valley an obvious choice at this point of the year, having only lost one game.
