Cove without Vick and Button tried hard but couldnt kick two goals in a row and Reynella had them covered most of the day.

I see Josh Vick kicked a couple of goals and was named best player for the SA Country team in the play off today for third and fourth place, which they lost to NSW/Canberra team.

Was not at the Marion v Brighton game on the weekend but was told SEVEN Marion u/16s stepped up and played B grade as well. And then TWO of those stepped up and played A grade also. Great effort by those lads. That kind of club dedication can hopefully turn the club around in years to come. Hopefully some seniors back this week.

No there is no truth in that rumor at all.

Going in for or recently had knee surgery, so will be a fine line, will be interested to see how he gets his next couple games just to qualify?

Reynella currently 7th with 15 pts then Flaggies 8th with 14 and Cove 9th with 14. At face value Cove have a much easier draw for the run to the finals. After next Saturday both Reynella and Flaggies played teams above them on the ladder. Therefore this Saturday's match of Reynella vs Flaggies will be make or break. I am predicting the loser will miss the finals.

I noticed some big bags of goals on the weekend including Golding kicked 10. With some tough games ahead the magical ton would be a massive stretch however I see smithy is on 94, which begs the question of when was the last time a falcon kicked 100 goals in a year?? Also, how many would have golding kicked all up for noarlunga over the last few years? Surely he would be close to their highest on record??

I believe Matt plays his 50 game Sat and if he kicks 5 that will take him to 300

If Golding gets another 5 or 6 goals from iffy free kicks like on Saturday because he whinges and moans when he doesn't get one, he will kick a fair few more. A great mark and doesn't miss for goal but gee he makes alot of noise out there. The umpies loved him.

Massive game also at the Shoe between the Shoes and the Roos. Port and Morphett Vale knocking on the door of the top four means current residents must keep winning. This could be a season-defining situation for the side that loses in terms of Premiership chances.

Who's everyone's tip for the GF this year?

To me, it looks like a three way dance between Valley, Brighton and Morphie Park as a roughie

I reckon between Valley & Brighton and Noarlunga/flagstaff as roughie's. It takes a lot to win a flag, which we all know, so i think Morphie Park need a few more consistant years before they are a contender, haven't heard of too many clubs having a once off good year and going all the way, even as a roughie. Morphie's will keep building and if in same position next year, they could be a serious contender.

Maybe we could consider Reynella as a one off success story?

For HVFC to make the GF they need to continue to have the relatively injury free season they are having. Have only lost 1 key player this year - Dan May round 1 with a broken leg. Lady Luck has a lot to do with that.

It is worth noting we beat Brighton by 1 point which is hardly a comprehensive victory. They have been the best team we have played all year but MVP really pushed us for 3 quarters.

I would also never write off the emus in September

If you go by that logic, does it mean that every side other than Morphett Vale for the last eight to ten years has been a one off success story?

I don't agree with the comments that MVP need a couple more years of sustained success in order to properly challenge at the pointy end. From a distance, they look to be building nicely. If they get a good run with injuries leading into September, it could be an interesting story.

I reckon you can write off all but Brighton, Valley and Noarlunga as chances for the flag. Someone else may get lucky throughout September and be there GF day but won't win.

Put a line through Morphies and Flaggies

Yeah Flaggies seem to promise the world but deliver very little. They have been very inconsistent again this year.
You take out the Brighton win and they haven't beaten anyone besides maybe Porties who are going to contend for the flag. They have lost to every other team above them on the ladder.
Lost to Cove, Edwardstown, Morphett Vale, Noarlunga, Morphie Parks, Happy Valley.
Won against Marion, OSB/Lonsdale, Porties, Brighton, Aldinga, Christies, Hackham.
I think it's going to come down to Brighton and Happy Valley. Once both teams are at full strength and firing both these teams will be very hard to beat. Will make for a great Grand Final clash too.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

Morphy's have Noarlunga @ Noarlunga this week and Happy Valley again, so i think these 2 games will give us some indication at where we are at, also have Flaggies and Townies which won't be easy either, and OSB which may be important for our % if we ar fighting for a top 4 spot, ( games not in order )

RFC, Why would you put a line through a side who is currently sitting 3rd ( Morphy's ) ???

I think he was referring to Morphett Vale not Morphetville Park.

Correct. Morphett Vale are no chance for the flag but Morphetville Park are a massive chance
