When was the last time a previous years grand finalist missed out on the finals the next year. Wonder how the emus would like to be playing in div 2 in 2013 if the league went back to 2 divs with 8 and 7 team comps. I wreckon a few players would be looking for a clearance. In a way it would be good to see what would happen. How it would improve the bottom clubs, would m/vale go backwards even quicker, how the sfl would be improved it would answer a few queries people would have.

Maybe the extra can go where they should to bottom four clubs.

Heard a whisper that Cranston maybe on the move back home for 2013??

And the stupidest post of the year goes to... GO THE PUNT!!! div 1 would involve the strongest 8 clubs not neccessarily the top 8 A grade teams.. think you are forgetting that all of their other sides are playing finals.. and a requirement of div1 would be that a club can fill all 5 saturday sides leaving only:

Brighton
Cove
Flagstaff Hill
Happy Valley
Morphett Vale
Noarlunga
Port Noarlunga

Wouldn't of thought he was sooking RT, just stating the facts really.....
Would've MVP finished top 4 without the allowance to get that couple of extra gun recruits? probably not.
It is what it is though, would want a prelim as an absolute minimum with the allowance, recruits and wages paid.

Memo to SFL

It is time to make the SFL an even playing field. If you finish in the top 4, you must get reduced points. If you finish in the bottom 4 you get more points .
If you don't then maybe some of the big clubs need to band together and force the hand of the SFL.

Leftpeg did I touch a nerve did I. How do you define strongest clubs. How are you going to improve the comp if there is no change between divisions. So going on your thoughts the roos would probably win flag after flag and stay in div 2 yeh that will work that will pick the bottom sides up that will encourage players to go to those clubs when there is no reward for them at the end.

Well here we go again. First of all, if Trev moves back home the club can't do much about that. He has been a great pick up for the Roos and I'm sure every other club would love his services. I'm still sure he will suit up for the Roos in 2013.
Once again the Morphettville Park Footy club put a proposal to the SFL. It was over 3 years, 2011 we had 21 points, 2012 18 points and in 2013 will be 15 points. So far we have built up our juniors and have 8's to 16's. Next year we hope to have 18's which will give us all grades. This finally gives us kids coming through and playing senior football. We were one of the bottom clubs a few years ago and have climb our way up, we are playing by the rules and have come along quicker than we thought. Maybe instead of knocking clubs that are improving we should encourage them so we can get the even comp everyone wants. Last year we finished 8th so we have an extra 3 points. Would be very disappointed if the league change there mind on the last year of the deal.
For the last few weeks we have only used 14 points if your interested.

You really think a club would win flag after flag with no junior development coming through and the only reason for current A grade success is due to a large cheque book?? surely they would need some sort of depth for continued success, and judging by their B grade there is not much depth at all!

So are you saying we have no junior development and our success is due to $$$. It's not just the A grade improving, we are having success in most other grades. Football is changing and just because you have 5 teams playing on a saturday doesn't mean your club is a success.

Under the impression that this can be reviewed each season depending on club development. From what you have posted MVPFC are now up and running with a near full book. Given MVPFC success in the previous two seasons, one would suggest that the SFL should review the points and if extra are to be handed out maybe they should go to more needy clubs.

Wish everyone complaining about the points would really stop. Realistically from an outsiders point of view they were struggling a few years back so they were given a helping hand. If anyone on this site reckons an extra 1-2 players in a whole side is the answer to a clubs success in a competition as strong as the SFL top 8 then give up playing or supporting because you have no idea.....

As previously stated STUPID POST OF THE YEAR. missing one year in a rigged competition does not mean they should be div 2.

The only way to move to 2 divisions is to have everybody on a equal playing field, then look at the clubs development and performance over a 10 year period.

It should be a given 5 teams on a Saturday has been the strength of the SFL a great day of club footy. Mabe you guys should look to SAAFL if you want saturday seniors and sunday juniors.

So what we've made a prelim final. Is this top 8 such a sacred place that only a certain 8 clubs are allowed to be involved. FFS we haven't done anything in finals for 20 years so I don't know why you are all so worried about us now!

Every club had the opportunity to say their piece when the revised flawed points system came into effect. We put our proposal forward and it was passed by the SFL and CFB.

Every club also has points to play with and recruit. Yes we fully use ours so what's stopping you? Rely on your juniors no worries. Is that getting you in the top 4, top 8? Every club needs a recruiting top up.

Have a think if us and the rest of the perceived struggling clubs weren't there - who is going to finish bottom then and have themselves a wooden spoon?

Hope you've all got your sheep stations and everything else on the line.
