Hey Mattee G and Vics01. Care to comment on the disgraceful scenes during and after the Under 18 game. Not unexpected from 1 of the clubs who have some real problem children in their juniors. Looking forward to some of those lads playing seniors next year and seing how tough they really are. But surprised to see the "family club" being no better when the fight started. Marred what was otherwise an incident free day.

From what I hear DTH nothing like the blood letting at Brighton after yesterdays result. The Brighton Mafia are not happy with selection decisions????

The word on the street is that Sam is about to get the sack. If so, I think it says more about the club than the coach. There seems to be some people that have far too much say at Bomber land.

Win a flag and get to a GF and get the sack, what a joke.

You can't be serious, 2 GF's in 2 years & 1 premiership.
Theres no doubt who the best side was all year & they deserved their victory end of story.
If anyone at Bomber land thinks they could of done better with selection & result etc well why ain't you coaching, its easy to start pointing the finger after the event.

If that's true, then it's an absolute joke. I can't believe that they would do this to a guy who has delivered exactly what was asked of him. Grand final was simply a case that they came up against a very very good side in red hot form.

Echunga last year won their first flag for 20 years and sacked their coach, lost the GF this year.

Just shows that the only thing moving the GF to South Adelaide has done to address crowd problems is reduce the crowd. The problems are still there, as soon as the crowd gets involved on field it gets ugly.

The biggest shame, however, was the fact that two teams were battling it out on one of the biggest days of their lives with no atmosphere - almost an entire half of the ground empty for the A-Grade. This should be our showcase game yet is now little more of an event than an South home game now.

Rotate it amongst all clubs, once every 15 years you get a chance to host - if your ground does not fit the requirements, then negotiate to hold it some where else (another club, league venue, etc) that does meet the standard. New clubs can go to the bottom of the queue.

LGIL Brighton did their best they hired a 16 seater bus to bring the supporters up the hill, towing the coffee machine.

Seriously though believe the league needs to promote the game and venue maybe look to play twighlight try something new or Sunday not in competition with the AFL and other leagues.

If a twighlight is played all the other teams who win can get honoured on the ground not shunted to the rear then out the gate, this may create more atmosphere.

You so called 'guns' should get to the gsfl. Johnston, Vick, bayley, smith, Ramsay, Golding, Cranston. You blokes game or is comfort zone the key

Thanks for the unsolicited advice. To address the points you made:
1. Wasn't just touted as a Mail medallist, he is one now. Played a cracking game in the GF and lifted when we needed him to dominate.
2. Nobody wants to see 49 goal floggings which is why most are asking for a 2 division comp
3. Why would they leave the SFL when they enjoy it. We all hear the rumours about the $$ offered, di you ever think that they just may play because they enjoy the comp they're in?
4. Rather than using an association game to look at who's better, I'd suggest that a game between the two premiership sides would be a better indicator. You know the old saying that a champion team will always beat a team of champions.
5. I think the GSFL has its own issues to deal with.

AFC you still confuse me ... before the game you backed "Brighton by plenty" yet here you talk about Jonny lifting for "us" - so you have jumped backed the HVFC bandwagon have you?

Interesting talk on here since the big game....

Brighton most certainly rolled the dice and played injured players - HVFC didnt take the risk with Alvino and Tonkin even though they could probably play if we had a game this weekend. Sometimes risks pay off and sometimes they dont. Would it have changed the result of the game with the 2 injured bombers players being at full strength - doubt it but wouldnt have been a 50 point scoreline.

The HVFC players who left the club are regretting their move and Suggy was devastated at the club Saturday night but dont reckon his decision to go was as much about money as needing a change of scenery. Wouldnt be surprised to see him and Marksy back in 2013. Anyone who bags blokes that leaves their home club and comes back need their head read. HVFC would not have won on Saturday if they hadnt welcomed back all the players who had left and come back. Sometimes you gotta let em go so they know the grass isnt always greener at another club or league

HVFC will need to prepare itself for the retirements that may come now - many blokes have been waiting for a flag before retiring including Huebner (no AFC he is not transferring anywhere). Predict could be as many as 5 blokes hanging up their boots. Will make season 2013 interesting

Saturday was probably Nathan Eagletons last game of footy and it was a pleasure to watch a bloke who had played at the highest level of footy get excited about playing in his first ever GF and winning his first ever flag with all his brothers alongside of him - champion way to end a outstanding career

Lastly there is no doubt Joel Brown and Nathan Peterson Gray will stay around. Both players, families and girlfriends have said they are happy with how well they have been welcomed by the club

Probably got a bit carried away there. Much as I have a foot in both camps, Saturday was a case of couldn't win and couldn't lose. Was really happy to see the boys get up and celebrate in style. Given my involvement is more with Valley than Brighton, I guess I sort of jumped ship....

Interesting rumor I would have thought Brighton would have been happy with sams efforts as coach?? Won a flag in his first yr at the club which is a great effort and shows that he was able to work with a new group and gain the respect of the players at the club. Managed to get his team there once again but the fell short and got done by a very solid team. I'm not sure what more he could have done on the day? watching it, it seemed like it was more the players having a bad day especially In the skill department and as mentioned played a red hot valleys. The bombers battled hard all day and never gave up but it just wasn't to be it's just the way it works. If Sam does lose the job it would be interesting to find out the reason for his dismissal??

All interesting points about situation surrounding Sam Mahony. I agree that he may have done the best he could. A flag, then a GF loss to a very good side. However, a club must always be ahead of the ball, and if there is a sniff around that things are not quite right, they must have the guts to make tough decisions. Sometimes clubs just need fresh faces, fresh ideas. Not saying there is anything wrong down at bomberland, because i wouldnt know, but if you leave someone in charge just because "they deserve it" you could go backwards quickly and undo years of hard work.

I don't think DTH question has been answered. Maybe trying to change the subject. The incident after the siren was a disgrace and the cove supporters that ran onto the ground and started to get stuck into the flaggies player should be band for a very long time, I don't care how old or young they were. Not saying Flaggies where innocent but it could have gotten very ugly.
So back to the clubs at hand Vics01 or Mattee G, any comments?

If Reynella u/14s coach Spaz does not win the GF with the side DH JH HANDBALLED him he should go back to Marion
Maybe his 3 time losing u/14s assistant did not help his plan, maybe he should give up trying to assist.

If Brighton are Silly enough to sack Sam after 2 very good yrs at the helm they are fools ,has done a great job .
Maybe the Pokie King still has too much influence down there as I am lead to believe it arises mostyl because Lil Johnnies boy wasnt up to it for most of the season, and has missed a few games , sack him at your own peril ,he wont go alone
Clubs all over have been ringing him for 6 weeks ,with some serious $$$$$$$$ on offer is what I heard over a beer the other night so Sam just might walk in there n say Shove it up ya A$$ an save them the Trouble ,would rather see the Goons sack him and have it come back to bite them fair on the Backside next yr

It is with the SFL at this stage, they are investigating both FHFC and CFC involvement. Best not to comment until the findings of that I would say.

Agreed. If you have an issue, speak to the person face to face rather than using a public forum. These are some of the very things that are wrong with junior football and why good people now hesitate to get involved.
