Can someone tell me the last time Morphett Vale and Reynella didnt play each other twice in a season?
Cause its happening in 2013. One match up at M/vale and thats it :o

Seen it and could not believe my eyes.

2 questions need to be asked of the SFL here which I hope the Emu/Fly hierarchy ask -

As mentioned above - when was the last time this happened (I can vouch for 2 games per year for the last 25 years) - BTP?

2nd question - why..??

emus get the home game this time round so to be fair Flies get next year and we only play each other once again..?? What are they trying to do..??

Excellent post. school footy is doing untold damage to local footy in SAAFL. These colleges need to get their heads out of the sand and realise that they are further down the food chain than what they believe to be.
The SFL is fortunate that it does not have college football to worry about as much but home support for SAAFL clubs is very strong and very tribal. Go to a match between Broadview, Gaza & Gepps Cross and it is fierce this is a rivalry built up of over 50+ years and in our case Gaza & Kilburn since 1928 and Gepps Cross since 1954. We are just hoping that Walkerville can make it to Division 1 and it will like the NADFA days of the 50's-60's very strong suburban rivalry.
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you, Port Adelaide Sturt. & Norwood You don't beat Glenelg in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Another poor fixture error is only one Valley vs Flagstaff game. The local derby always attracts a good crowd at either venue despite Valley winning the last 19 times in a row. The games are always competitive and can't see why the SFL wouldn't program 2 games to continue to foster the rivalry. 'Computer says no'.

Can't believe some of you are complaining that the draw does not have 2 x Emu vs Winefly and 2 x Viking v Falcons... I'm from Flagstaff Hill and I have never been a fan of the 'automatic' 2 games versus our rival. (and no it isn't because we have lost them all!)

Same goes for Reynella vs Morphett Vale, yes they have a rivaly, but why does that get an automatic 2 x games. The draw 'should' be even, i.e you play 4 teams twice one year then another 4 the year after etc, but due to the gap in quality of the teams they try to make the weaker teams play the weaker teams and the stronger teams play the stronger teams.

I might be in the minority but I am not upset that these clubs have only 1 game against each other next year.

2 Divs would fix that - but that's another can of worms :)

"reppoh_eht" Well said couldn't have said it any other way :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
just for insight M/vale and Reynella had to finished in the top 8 an they would have got two games against Reynella 2013. but 1 side didnt and they got told this, and may not get 2 games in 2013

Well each to their own I guess, but from a financial point of view these games help the clubs involved. And as has been said, 2 divs is the way to even up a lopsided comp and provide good games each week. I know why Flaggies wouldn't want that though....

Okay I'll bite... Why would Flaggies not want a strong even comp?

And on the financial rewards for these games - one of the major reasons why they should not be automatic fixtures, all it does is reward two teams in the competition year in year out, rather than spreading the sucess. But I guess we can continue with these double blockbuster games and just help the strong clubs...

Because the AFL system works so well with evening out and parity measures doesn't it. You start messing with the good things in the game and it's just the tip of the iceberg. There is already a points system in place to help. As for why Flaggies wouldn't want two divs....well obvious that they run the risk of being a Div 2 side.

New signing at the Roos Phil Bennett from Angaston. Looks like he will be a big asset. How are other teams recruiting going? Any Names?

Would be surprised if The General played after sustaining a nasty knock to the cranium in the last game of the year and was told to have 12 months away from the game. May have had some better news from the Doc since.

The scone is fine, from what I have been told though he does have to give up the drink for 12 months.

Still building the junior grades and pushing ahead with under 18's for 2013. If we manage to fill that grade we will have a full set of juniors so I would say we have done a pretty good job of rebuilding. As for the points for next year we are back to 15 so you may not be able to sook about that any more. Thanks for your concerns though Vics.

Vics should worry about his own club enough problems up there with the president walking out on AGM . Also AFL sides have about 10 people on there board / committee have heard Cove have 26 surely that makes for interesting meetings .
