Confirmed players not at brighton next year I was informed at cricket training
Trevor Rigney- peake
Michael baker- peake
Gabe Phillips- peake
Brad king- retired
Joel tucker-retired
Chad Norsworthy- Wallaroo
Jacob broad- torrens valley
Jack Rogers- flinders park

They were names I was definitely given and more maybe to come. I really hope the club are recruiting and talking to players thinking of leaving. We need the club to stay strong. Been at the top for so long and should only want to stay there.

FOURTH ESTATE wrote:Excellent post. school footy is doing untold damage to local footy in SAAFL. These colleges need to get their heads out of the sand and realise that they are further down the food chain than what they believe to be.
The SFL is fortunate that it does not have college football to worry about as much but home support for SAAFL clubs is very strong and very tribal. Go to a match between Broadview, Gaza & Gepps Cross and it is fierce this is a rivalry built up of over 50+ years and in our case Gaza & Kilburn since 1928 and Gepps Cross since 1954. We are just hoping that Walkerville can make it to Division 1 and it will like the NADFA days of the 50's-60's very strong suburban rivalry.

College's need to get their heads out of the sand??? School footy is doing untold damage to local footy???

Please elaborate.... Also consider SANFL clubs recruiting your star SAAFL juniors too which you may not see again, unless they are fringe and you may get them back come school holidays.

Do you want the College players at your school to strengthen your team so you can promote your club and brag about numbers? You would find, families enrol to Colleges knowing the policies so they are making a choice. The competitiveness between schools to market themselves depends on the strength of their extra-curricula programmes & academic results. Is that why some schools offer academic scholarships to the best footballers in the state?

You may find many keen college footballers will represent their school on Saturday, and then play for their clubs on Sunday. Some clubs also form strong relationships with clubs so that their players have somewhere to go when they leave school. Kids playing football is what is important isn't it?

So instead of whinging about decling numbers, may be your club needs to work harder in building a positive repore with your local schools (public and private).

If you were talking about Colleges holding players back from playing at the highest level (SANFL U18's) I think you would have some claim to the arguement, but you are not. Country & suburban junior football is not the pinnacle, nor is school football for that matter.

If you question the standard of College Football, compare Reynella vs Morphett Vale U18's against Immanuel vs Sacred Heart First 18 (both have geographical links to SFL & SAAFL clubs).

So if you are down the beach, I hope you haven't swallowed to much sand.

Have heard similar asert, they seem to be attracting some interest. Is this because they are zero pointers or doesn't it matter what grade u play?? Possibly 4-5 other A grade players not confirmed but are showing interest in other clubs in the ypfl and GSFL ..From word I've heard wouldn't be surprised if B. king plays on in a country team possibly as assistant coach player..

Found this on Country Footy
Very Interesting ???????

Secret Squirrell
Seems as if a few unhappy Country League Head Honcho's (GSFL, RMFL and SFL) tried to organise a meeting in regards to taking over the SACFB and only 3 people tuned up!!!!! To make matters worse they have engaged Ashley "the laziest journo" Porter to help them. If they did their home work they would have found out how useless he is and that he cost his last employers $60,000 in bad debts on a book that was so bad and inaccurate that they could not even give it away.
Instead of trying to go behind everyone's backs why not work with others to get a better deal.
