Sadly looks like a long season ahead for Flaggies, Christies played better and deserved to win by more, their defence gave up some easy goals but other than that look like a good young team that could push the 8 this year.

We had to leave in the last quarter (screaming kids et. al.) so I'm not sure what happened to our boys in those last 15 minutes, but I saw the end score and was absolutely spewing. Brighton evidently blew it out and kicked 8-10 goals in those 15 minutes. They got the jump on the Sharks early, and maintained a lead of about 5-6 goals for the majority of the game, but Aldinga showed some positive signs out there. We've got some talented kids - including a couple of inexperienced defenders fresh out of juniors/B grade, who really stepped up to Brighton's forward three, and I thought they did a great job, conducted themselves well out there, and have shown they're ready to earn a regular spot in the As. Aldinga's preseason has paid off in spades - usually we start running out of legs in the second half, was good to see us still relatively fresh at 3/4 time. Last week our problem was clearances - I think we had 18 or something for the whole game against Hackham - and we improved on that a hell of a lot. (Shane, if you're reading this - I heard from a reliable source what you told the boys on Tuesday about clearances, funniest s*** I ever heard, and hey, maybe it did the trick!) Still got a long way to go - all you had to do was look at Brighton to see that. They're probably the best-drilled side going around in the league - their forward three seemed to communicate by bloody telepathy - and in a contest they always had a loose man behind to pick up the ball, every single time, and always on his own with no tagger. There was some other thing they did, something to do with marking the ball and playing on asap in a particular direction - Mr McSpaz explained it to me, reckons it's some little-used marking drill he used to get trained in at Blackwood - but I lost the gist of it. But apparently it is good. Anyway, I was very impressed with the Brighton side, and even more impressed with how Aldinga hung on and never quite let them run away with it... except in the last 15 minutes. If the game had ended 15 minutes early I'd have been as stoked as a Twihard with a lifesize Edward Cullen cutout. Really looking forward to next week against Reynella, in a 'This should be a good game' way as opposed to 'We're going to get pumped, hurrah for cheap Paleys'* way.

Lonsdale by 4 goals. Marion have to start to think if its worth having a level 3(so called) coach if your going to let Lonsdale's better players run free and unmarked for the whole match. Asks for alot of money, has outlayed a lot of time, but his ideas are outdated, don't work, he will not last with these plans, as its painful to watch,please....please bring to the table someone who bleeds for Marion FC, and put in someone at the club who will lead them to play a style that is both structured and respected from both players and supporters. A tough year for a semi talented group.

Thanks Shoey. No offence to Aldinga but very hard to gauge how good we were but nice to see that Fisho recognised a distinct game style and structure that the coach has introduced. One of the fitter and quicker Aldinga line ups we have encountered and they never threw in the towel so that was pleasing for them. We fielded a very young side which included an Under 18 and we have a few A graders including our skipper (the best CHB in the SFL) to return over the next 3 or 4 weeks. Most of these did the full pre-season but are missing at the moment for a variety of reasons. We now have a run of 9 or 10 against certain finalists or teams in the mix for finals so we'll see how good the results are looking then.

Your captain is the best CHB in the SFL? Dont reckon McKenzie would agree with that - course he is also the reigning premiership captain.

Good to see, Looks like it worked, could have been 146 points.
Also, Marion's Aus Kick on friday nights and Junior program is first class. A lot of people putting in a lot of time and effort and it looks like putting the right people in place is paying off. Still a work in progress but a super atmosphere amongst the young players, coaches, volunteers and parents.

Cheers Vulcan - great thing is we are yet to put our strongest team on the park. Looking forward to games against Twisties, Brighton, Reynella over next month to see where we are at

So to help out all the future shoc players those two teams want all the other teams to play Sunday to accomadate them ! Bit of a joke really !!!
