It will take more than a slow start by valleys for brighton to get over them. What I saw on saturday was a side that lacks some experience heads around. Young boys tried hard but looked lost in stages. pushed off the ball easy, rushed dissposals, poor decission making just a lack of experience on the field. Mind you when they got it right moved the ball well. On the other had the roos midfield just run run and run. Play on at all cost hard to judge them but they have probably spent the dollars well this year and would be top four I would think.

P32 probably thinks this shold be on the kiddie page as it is about juniors

However understand Morphett Vale have asked for a presidents meeting for a vote of no confidence in the board over the Sunday u16 sides being allowed in the Saturday comp.

Apparently most clubs are against but the GENERAL has rammed it through.

Should be an interesting week in the SFL.

It appears that at times the SFL board forget they they work to support the clubs, the clubs are not there for the boards amusement and pleasure.

Are we suggesting that the board made a decision against the wishes of the majority of the clubs it represents?? Surely Not! :?

If the clubs win a vote of No confidence is the next step a special AGM to have the board removed??

If that is the plan hope the clubs have done home work and have a board ready to go.

Axle Rose is spot even with the jest of the comment.

Currently the board or members of the board make decisions based on personal views not on the constitution:

IE allowing clubs to enter Sunday without filling Saturday sides.. If the board want to allow clubs to do this within the rule it is as simple as changing the constitution. Clubs get fined quite often for minor rule breaches yet the board are not accountable for their breaches.

Don't have a constitution in front of me at the moment but I think the vote of no confidence would be required to occur at a Special General Meeting with a 2/3 majority I think.

As the board makes up 8 votes they currently hold more than 1/3 of the total votes (board members + 1 per club) and as a result if they vote as a bloc they would have veto power over any motion of that nature.

May not have my facts correct tho.

Well done to the SAAFL. They have shown both common sense and had the balls to make a decision. SFL hierarchy please take note.

Well, I guess the SFL board read this forum and have made a "decision".

WHEELS AND DEALS
and now we have 3 clubs Marion, Edwardstown and Morphy parks trying to find another 75 (25 per team) kids to play Saturday under 14's. Try finding that many kids around our areas. almost mission impossible.

Maybe clubs need to think outside the square and combine junior sides in order to filed teams.

The bigger picture is clubs need to look at mergers with others in order to survive. There are a lot of clubs all trying to feed from the same pond, which is smaller than it was 20 years ago, eventually it will dry up if things stay as they are.[/quote]

IF the SFL hadn't allowed BDOS to field a second Sunday U14 side, then Marion would have been able to field a Sunday U14 side, which would have been a good start for the club and the SFL.

COVE BOYS
Not sure where you are from yet (claim Cove) (Talk about Marion) but you missed the point.

Clubs need to look at mergers at Senior level down to Junior level. There are just not enough footballers at all levels to go around anymore and support all the clubs..

For sake of saving some form of respect for the club name tough decisions need to be made going forward with respect to merge or disappear forever.

According to the ABS, there are 198 boys aged 13 and 14 around the Marion Football Club (Darlington, Dover Gardens, Oaklands Park, Seacombe, Seaview Downs,Sturt and parts of South Brighton, Seacliff, Marino, Kingston Park & Bedford Park). There are plenty to go around rather than fighting over the 25 that Brighton have attained. Also, for the record, only 61 of these 198 are attending private/non-government schools, so they should also be available Saturday.

Marion has one of the better catchment areas of all SFL clubs.

1)To present something as fact, you should really provide the ABS figures for all clubs.
2) how do you define the border for a catchment area? For example, the twisties have have PHOS, SHOCS, Marion, Mithcell Park, Plympton, Edwardstown, Westminster and Marion in the vicinity,
3) how do you represent the other sports?
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

GENERAL

Why is the SFL fielding a team on the biggest stage AAMI stadium as a curtain raiser to a Crows game and the players have been told wear your club shorts and socks with the SFL jumper. They will look like they come from the Salvos shop.

Surley it not that hard to supply maroon socks and white shorts for this game.. It makes the SFL look like Jethro and Son.

Biggest stage possible sponsors, TV promotion and all. SFL get it together. Yes short notice on the game but surely not that hard to supply at least plain white shorts and basic maroon sock which can purchased at sports stores??????

Well it is not an exact science obviously, really just by looking at the location of the club in comparison to other clubs and trying to work out which areas are closest to that particular club.

The point I made was there are plenty of kids living within the vicinity of Marion Football Club, if other clubs which are futher away are getting to them first then that is an issue they need to deal with.

The key message I was trying to get across was that from those figures, Marion has a viable future without merging like was suggested above.

I would like to see rules brought into every league where players, spectators, club officials in fact anyone guilty of abusing umpires have to attend umpires training & then actually officiate in some games before being allowed to attend matches again.
