On to the footy this weekend.

Happy Valley in a close one, maybe more avenues to goal than Morphies.

Reynella prefer the dry and I think will reverse their recent loss to the Emu's.

Noarlunga to beat Christies provided they bring something close to their A game because they have had the biggest gap between good and bad this season.

Not willing to be a kiss of death with Brighton v Edwardstown. Most in the southern suburbs will know who won or lost at around 5pm Sunday because if a certain team loses you won't have to be at the ground to hear the coach going off, and it won't be handshakes all around either.

PS: Good to hear that Old Man Munga was spreading the SFL word from the front bar of the Lonsdale on Thursday. You have a good head for radio OMM. ;)

well i don't usually do tips but its finals so here goes.

Valleys V Roos, not going to pick a winner but I hope its the Roos.

Flies V Emus, I think Reynella will be to strong in a close one. Emus have improved from last year but may fall a little short

Shoes V Saints, Noarlunga's tall's to do the job over a much improved christie's beach.

Towns V Bombers, Edwardstown have had a great year and are playing some great footy. Brighton have battled all year when a lot of people wrote them off, but they have made the 8. Only from what I've seen in the last few weeks i'll go for townies to win

If the last two contests between Valley and the Roos are anything to go by, it should be a great, close and tough contest all day.
Both sides have great attacking midfields and strong forward options. Roos have an advantage in ruck and height around the ground, whereas Valley has a lot of midfield depth and versatility to change players around dependent on need. I'm obviously hoping for a Valley win, but could go either way and come down to the last few minutes of the game.

Great to be talking about week 1 of finals with such uncertainty particularly with the Sunday games. For years it was the top 6 and forget the rest. This year 9th and 10th were still better teams than some of the 7th and 8th teams that have made finals in the past, and 11th and 12th either defeated and/or troubled some sides that finished above them.

I think several SFL clubs should be commended on coaching appointments in recent times. Morphy Parks lost a goodun with employment but a big coup with his replacement. Hackham and Christies have chosen wisely and Townies brought in a bloke who knows how to build a team and has a great SFL background. Porties had their issues late in the season and the coach has departed but he did a tremendous job getting them into a Prelim last year. Cove are in transition but have blooded some good young talent in the last 2 seasons and have some real talent coming our of their current Under 18's.

Twisties in an upset. Dry warm day, suit their speed.
Heart says Emus, Head says Winies.
Shoes by stacks. Saints have been struggling of late. Smashed by the top sides and only snuck over the Hawks last week.
Towns by 5 goal.

Hawks were within 2 goals in the last quarter of townies 2 weeks earlier???
Valleys by 12 points
Reynella by a 18 points
Shoes in extra time
Towns by 6 points
All in all should be a good round of finals. :D

The 4 games look crackers with Christies Beach & Noarlunga squaring off to play the loser of Reynella & Morphett Vale. So there is guaranteed 3 games of old-school SFL rivalry in the first two weeks of finals.
Edwardstown & Brighton also have a long history so that should be good.
Then you have Happy Valley & Morphettville Park who played out a draw earlier in the year.

Looks to be a great start to the finals series

Happy Valley start day well with a 1 point win in the Under 14s. After that every team was the higher ranked team and they lost 4 out of 4. OUCH.

Maybe some of their A grade players couldn't afford to eat or drink this week!

Reality is Morphett Vale probably finished a couple of positions above where they really are at this year. 6 games against the bottom four from 2012 gave them 2 extra wins that the couple below them did not get.

They will obviously build in the next few years, maybe just a bit of a leg up this year.

No doubt you would be enjoying this DTH but a bad day of footy for us today with the worst part Johnny Eagleton targeted and stretchered off which hurt us badly and other injuries taking their toll. Couple of ambulances today is always a bad sign

Great come from behind win for our 14s and the other teams will be glad they have earned a second chance

Ah well finals footy can be unpredictable but we are staying positive and the lads are keen to make amends next week

Great win today Roo Boys. We new it was going to be a tough game and to get over the line is great. A lot of hard work done over the last 4-5 years has got the club back on track. Fielding all junior grades for the first time in a long time which should see some more junior players making it into senior football next year.
Love that you care so much Vics01. don't worry about us. Our budget is under control and all our players have been paid. Maybe you need to ask some of the Happy Valley players about payments, word around Noarlunga today was they haven't been paid for the last couple of weeks.
