Reynella knocked off the Roos twice this season already, once by 34 points on their deck and then by 17 in a wet tussle at Reynella. But that game the score was 6.10 to 4.5, so if the Flies kicked straight it should have been more.
The Reynella backline has been awesome this year and the team has great flexibility around the ground with the ability to move blokes where needed.
I think the biggest challenge is going to be for Big Luke Ciampa to compete with Cranston all day.
Here's hoping the finals experience the Wineflies have will shine through tomorrow in what looks like a great day for football!
Flies by 3 goals for me.

We only hated Reynella when that balding ruckmen played for them. ;)

Hahaha, yeah that bloke was a prick! :butthead:

Flies by 23 for me.

Think there was a BIG selection dillema last night for the flies!! A big name may miss out and is fit! However, it could come down to some fitness tests tomorrow.

Yeah there was definitely one very disappointed player out at Oval Rd last night. :(

It's both a hard decision to make and to accept. I think I have equally seen examples of players pulling the pin and taking it on the chin to come back next season more determined than ever.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

In regards to the incident with Macka clearly there are many on the forum that are of the belief that the incident was unprovoked hence the king hit terminology being used. HV were obviously able to prove that it wasnt and both players were actively involved which is why 5 weeks was the penalty. Edwardstown supposed video footage was never presented despite HV being informally notified that it existed.

Onto the weekends games and best of luck to our Junior Vikings and MVP and Reynella. My tip goes to the Wineflies they were very impressive last week

Edwardstown Football Club not ruling out legal action over incident which left player with broken jaw

EDWARDSTOWN Football Club has not ruled out taking legal action over an on-field incident which has left one of its players eating liquid food and unable to work.
A Southern Football League (SFL) investigation committee this week suspended Happy Valley captain Scott McKenzie for five matches for striking Edwardstown wingman Matthew Hearn.

The incident, which left Hearn with a broken jaw, occurred off the ball in the opening minutes of the league's first semi-final at Christies Beach on September 7.

Edwardstown president John Shaw said the club would appeal the suspension in the hope of securing tougher penalties against McKenzie.

He said pursuing legal action against McKenzie was "not off the table" but he would not elaborate.

He said Hearn was eating liquid food and was on leave from his job as a physiotherapy tutor because of the injury.

"We'll be looking for a right to appeal," Shaw said.

"We as a club feel the penalty is grossly inadequate.

"I know what we'd like to have seen to make it worthwhile ... but I don't know if it's a good thing to print."

Shaw said the club presented witnesses, photographs of Hearn's injuries and medical reports to the committee to support its case.

Shaw said Hearn, a member of the SFL's Team of the Year, was "enraged by the inadequate penalty".

Happy Valley president Wayne Hasel said his club would challenge any potential appeal.

Hasel said McKenzie was on holiday and was unavailable for comment.

"I've known Scott for a long, long time and he's a tough, hard footballer," Hasel said.

"In my opinion what he's done is a split-second error in judgment.

"I'm devastated for the young guy with the broken jaw.
"The tribunal has made the decision ... and hopefully we'll move on."

SFL president Craig Warman, who was not on the investigation committee, would not comment on the case.

SANFL community football general manager Glen Rosser, who oversees suburban football leagues, did not know the details of the incident.

He said, as a general rule, any aggrieved players should take further action.

"If an individual believes he has been assaulted off the ball then he should refer that as an assault charge to police," Rosser said.

"We do not condone any assaults or striking off the ball at all."

Brighton player Will Rivers this month received a six-game ban for unduly rough conduct against Edwardstown's Thomas Renzi in the SFL elimination final on September 1.

Renzi also suffered a broken jaw but Shaw said the club was satisfied with the penalty handed down to Rivers.

Only 'slightly biased' P32???

Wineflies by 10 pts if they can control the Roos top end talent of Cranston, Murphy and Ruwoldt.

Is Milo playing, will make a big difference if he's fit.

Edwardstown in the B-grade, very experienced side which includes former A-grade premiership captain and former South Adelaide Captain.

Yep it will be disappointing not to see Milo out there tomorrow. Flicked the big fella a text to see if he was in but he said he hasn't been able to get up for it....

Down the Hill wrote:There is a GF tomorrow lads. I'm not even going to discuss tribunal or investigation committee penalties becasue I'm speechless from what happened Wednesday night rather than Tuesday night.

I don't care how Morphy Park established a team for a tilt at the flag. The bottom line is that they have recruited the right type of people who seem to play for the jumper they are wearing regardless of the $$$$$. And at least they haven't pillaged other clubs in the SFL in recruiting players. They do have some lads from other SFL clubs that were recruited some years ago but these lads went to MP for greater opportunities and have developed into decent players, obviously assisted with some of the quality around them.

Reynella have gone under the radar all season and have a very experienced finals team. The Bombers played MP only once in Round 3 with half our side out, and Reynella only once in a low scoring bog at Reynella so hard to gauge who is the better of the 2 that we played.

If the Ruwoldt who has been injured is fit and plays then I'm tipping MP but if he doesn't play or is a liability then I'm tipping Reynella.

Good to see Townies in the B grade GF which will give a real different look to the 2 main games on SFL GF day. 7 clubs represented in all so hopefully plenty of support and colour. Not one MV team which would be a first for many years. Maybe they planned it because of the new Dry Zone across the road.

Couldn't tell you the last time m/vale didn't have a team play on grand final day but its been 16 years since
we didn't win a game on the big day.
sfl can stick there dry zone up there car park.
The mvfc would like to apologize for not being there to greet you all as you arrive at the game today.
we are going to take our bbq to the gsfl.
Just looking for some atmosphere. If the game was played at a local oval we would be there all ready.
Would like to wish all the teams playing today all the best in there quest for the holly grail.
EMUS? the rock stars of the outback.
emus are berserk. they run fast, playhard,
and to be honest, we admire their insanity.

I all seriousness, how many points players & points did MvP have out there today?

Not interested in the net points, ie how many kids they played to compensate (if they did) just who & how many points players did they have?

I heard that Reynella only had 1 player that wasn't a RFC past junior! Good effort if true!

They have definitely improved, I am just curious as to their actual points level! I know they had extra but just want to know how many & who they were used on?

Well done FLIIIIES!
If those young blokes and a mixture of old can all stay together there could be more to premierships to come yet!
You have to feel a bit sorry for A. Proctor, he is a champion of the club.. mixed feelings for him I'm sure.
Any thoughts on the best of field? Could have been either Faz, Prescott, ciampa or doughty for mine. Well done to Faz.

Fantastic effort by Flaggies yesterday. B Grade and U 18's premiers. B grade were underdogs up against a vastly more experienced and bigger bodied Townies team but we stuck to the game plan and structures and prevailed. Coach, Rod Michell, will take up the A grade role next year and should have a good solid base to start a Flaggies push up the ladder at highest grade.
