Surely that rule doesn't apply due to Hackham not competing in a major comp. Aren't most of those lads ex Cove anyway?

Most are returning, think Cove was always going to benefit with the Hackham situation, who wants to play C grade really?? The Hackham top enders Anton and CICCCA have been picked up for $$$ from country clubs.

I guess they would use the argument that Hackham are no longer on the ladder to allow it to be a free for all. Cove in this instance are taking the role of vultures, although to be fair it was noted earlier that a number of them are former players (which from memory may have been recruited via questionable means in the first place - were any of these the ones that were enticed away from the SAFC junior program by the previous coach?)

When did the infighting at Marion stop, leave alone start. There are some really good people at the club, who put the club first, and then there are those who have always only put their position in the club first. Some want to live in the good old days, the others are working hard to build the club back up from the juniors to the seniors, while the "good old dayers" are really only interested in "The A Grade".

And by A grade, you mean the B graders they've recruited? The loss of 2 Carters is huge for a club that did not have any other players of that calibre.

I hope the club does well, minis through to seniors. We will see in good time what the year holds.

Any trial matches coming up for any teams?

no by "The A GRADE". I mean "The A GRADE" only. They don't care about the other grades, as for signing B grade standard players from the other clubs to play A grade, beggars cant be choosers.

Heard that Marion got a fair touch up by the Flinders University Crabs on the weekend who have been a bottom of the ladder Div 7 side for a few years now... Could be one hell of a long year for some very overpaid, average players at the Rams..

Anyone happen to see the game?

Any other trial games over the weekend?

Having seen the first half of that match, I'd tend to agree with that comment. A few to still come into the side which may inject a touch of quality but when half of the A graders wouldn't play B grade in some other SFL sides, they will have some serious trouble containing the stronger sides. I wish them well but will be difficult to see any success.

Shoes played the Unley Jets Sat - B grade was a competitive game, didn't see A's.
Cove played Kangarilla Sun, didn't see it - heard 10 goal win A's 20 plus Bs.
Some talk at cricket finals Sunday that reigning premier Flaggys got a bit of a touch up from Goody Saints in the A's ??

having watched to whole game, i wouldnt say they got "a fair touch up".
flinders kick 5 to 1 in the first half and marion won the last half 5 to 3
not too bad considering about 80% of the players havent played together before.
they have lockley next saturday so another trial to improve.

If they lost to Flinders Uni, then Lockleys will beat them by 25 goals.

also watched both games, crabs B's got up by 5 goals, crabs A's were 8 to 2 in first half and was 3 goals a piece in the second half to get up x 6 goals, was bloody stinking hot, was a trial, 80% of marion hadn't played together before, neither had over 30% of the crabs and know the crabs were still ringing around that morning to fill the B's with 18 players over both grades unavailable due to work, cricket finals and other commitments, read into it what you will but trials are trials and finals not played in March but also think marion will struggle, didn't see much in the way of set plays or structure besides their muscle bound ruckman punching the ball to centre half forward which after the first time became very predictable and also agree lockleys will give them a fair touch up.

Lonsdale look to have come along way. Expecting them to push for finals this year they have recruited heavily and look to have some home grown kids finally ready to take the step to consistently playing A grade football.
