Easy done. Standard of SAAFL football great, standard of admin shithouse. Or are you talking about SFL bagging their administrators? They do plenty of that too.

How many times do we need to tell you? The SFL have never picked an open aged side to play the SAAFL.

Did they have players over 23 in the side? Yes. More excuses from the SFL(second-rate fairies league).

By your own admission you play Div 2 and 3 so wouldn't that make you a second rate player/clown as well?

Yep. My team is second rate compared to div 1 teams. It would be silly to say otherwise. However my club has won div 1 premierships and we are trying to get back up there. Edwardstown have said, "we're happy where we are, we're going to a league where we can't improve but at least we'll look good every year". If we said hey div 2 is good enough, I'd be pissed at us too".

You've made my point well, div 2/3 is second rate in the SAAFL, but it's as good as it gets down south.

The 9 supporters and stray dog you get watching every week would probably agree.

I used to watch my brother play a few games for Walkerville and the atmosphere / support at these games is pitiful. Whilst not perfect i much prefer SFL footy to amateurs...

Yep, well I have played in both leagues and so have team mates of mine. I'm not even sure if you have seen a game of div 1 footy. So I dare say my opinion is more informed than yours.

Swooper, you amaze me, SFL crowds are far less than my home games.

'TBS'
I am not sure what you are fishing for on the SFL thread.. if you are happy residing with in SAAFL then so be it. The lack of responses coming back from the majority posters on this site show they are not interested in your opinions.
Edwardstown have made their decision and all of us are moving on.. you seemed to have an issue with SFL and our standard.. if its so bad then why are your interested in it...? I am sure any div 1 side is just as uninterested in your club.

I suggest you take your donkey and head back to the flat lands.

Keydefender, my original point was that Edwardstown are taking the easy option by going to the SFL and limiting their potential as a football club.

I was then dragged into an argument that the SFL's top sides were as good as div 1 sides. If no-one cares what I think, why have the last few pages been written.

I said your league was a good standard and that the top few teams would be OK in div 2. I believe div 2 is a good standard and much higher than any country league. Occasionally one country team might be up to scratch in that div but rarely so.

The few comments about it being second rate were largely made out of frustration because of some posters' inability to see were the league actually sits.

If no-one is interested I expect no further posts on this thread. Doesn't bother me.

Ive seen Div 1 footy only once, and it was for about 30 minutes at the start of this season. Mrs Twisties lives up North (and me from down South, yes its a true Romeo and Juliet story) and on the long way home down Main North East road I stopped off at the curiously named Gaza football club as I noticed they were playing. Think they were up against Port Districts, but I didn't know which team was which (I didn't ask any of the 15ish people there watching) but I didn't see too much that matches up with your rave reviews TBS. Just looked like a game of footy to me, much like the ones ive seen in the SFL over the past 15 years.

The one revolutionary thing I did notice: one of the teams coaching staff had cleverly put their chairs ON TOP of the coaches box - and proceeded to watch/coach from this elevated position! I was gob smacked! I wonder if any aspiring coaches will be trying to bring this to the SFL?

Yep, and last time I saw a match at Brighton there were more people watching the rugby. Maybe thats why the SFL crowds are so huge, they count everyone at the adjacent bowling clubs.

Who cares anyway, if you're not involved with either the club that has moved, or the league they are going to, then what worth would anyone actually hold to your opinions anyway?

It's called talking about footy over the summer. It was an interesting move and people want to talk about it. You replied, so you must care what I think.

I say, good luck losing to Edwardstown by less than 10 goals next year foxy boy.
