in regards to the Valleys letter pretty sure that has been admitted it is an oversight and shouldn't have been sent but families at our club should maybe compare their fees to that if other clubs nearby - then they may see why fundraising is so important

A grade players also have player sponsors that covers their payments so its not like the subbies are having to fund them but don't let me stop all the posters on this forum from having a dig - course we must be the only ones that pay players ...

Well maybe some clubs should get real with what they charge junior subs and not leave too much to fundraising where volunteers who already do so much are expected to raise coin to make up shortfalls in charging too little for subs. Brighton charges realistic fees and parents are not expected to sell a raffle book or chocolates or whatever other lame thing during the season which means they are not scared of coming down the club for fear of being accosted. We live in a different age and some of the old ways of raising money are now redundant.

I know at Port Noarlunga so there is no issue with unsold raffle tickets, The cost of the raffle books are included in their annual fees. I'm unsure of the subbies cost (maybe $10 for a book), they are paid for when they pay their subs. The kids /parents then can just write their own name on the tickets or they can sell them and recoup the money and keep it for themselves. This is for all Grades up to and including the A's and B's (who have more tickets to sell than juniors). Seems to work there.

DTH lets not talk about "realistic subs" because we all know Brighton charge double what the other clubs do.........with volunteer coaches, no medical supplies etc.....can't see how this can be justified!

In saying that congratulations must got to Brighton on winning the under 8's carnival today, both teams made the GF with the Black's winning. Also congratulations to Aldinga and Marion in making the semi-finals both clubs struggling in the senior teams but the juniors are going in the right direction.

Well done to Cove on hosting the carnival (especially the guys doing the scoreboard) but it is the SFL again that must be asked some serious questions on why they let Cove host the carnival if they can't use the soccer oval nextdoor because the ovals were too small with many kids clearing the zone with one kick and really it doesn't encourage running football when kids know they can kick the entire length of each zone.

Also didn't see the SFL officials doing too much today......

Yes agree Cove ran it very well, sadly the grounds were way too small which made the games more congested and then put more pressure on the young umpires, but overall and enjoyable day and one that shouldn't be off the calendar for any reason in the future.

Hi Wedgie,
FDC have drafted a document that has changes to Sat juniors 15 and 17 to replace 14/16/18.

Minis to stay 8/10/12 with 13's to play for points on Sunday's.

Great day put on by Lonsdale, very well organised and a great result, but I am biased :D

Reynella Black and Aldinga played a draw in the semi and had to play another 10 mins to get a result.

Well done to OSB/Lonsdale once again. They are a club that seems to be battling for survival due to being wedged between several SFL clubs but they have some terrific people who are always very welcoming whenever we play at Sherriffs Road, and who have done a terrific job with hosting Lightning Carnival's over the years. Great job guys.
