SHOE BOY: I guess you gave evidence last night to the effect that nothing happened?? I gather you will be the first to give a statment to the police to the effect nothing happened. Yes I was there and like most did not see the alleged hit but like most was watching the play that had moved on. I can only say that I did see the result of the hit immediately after and Jeff Fenech would have been proud.

Brighton player down. BDOS offender attempts to lift player, Cove trainer says don't move him. Whack.

Very very unsavoury act on your clubs behalf last year, in fact, worst effort i have ever heard of, DISGRACEFUL... As i am a man of my word this year i snuck in over the back (panalatinga Road) brought my own beers and didn't eat a thing all day, will never spend at cent at your club again...

As we speak we are triple checking our current registered players in anticipation of a Prelim battle against your club, then the obvious "post prelim" battle will begin...

your a very serious man mex. surely he was taking the piss and we have all moved on from last year, whatever the circumstances....

Care to expand on this issue a bit more Mex? What happened during last years Prelim? Unregistered player? That should result in a forfeit, even in a Prelim. Rules are Rules, if that is what happened?

Gee i dont know if the above is credible anymore Vics... You didnt actually see anything? Ive seen TV laywers tear apart such testimony with minimum fuss!

Lets see if we can coaxe Luvsfooty back from his GSFL: LV what did you see? How could number 9 for Cove have accidently clipped his own trainer? Was there a scuffle on? Or just 2 people moving in opposite directions accidentaly clashing?

All this talk of TV crime shows CT, I think we should get grisham from CSI onto the case we can even use the smiley face with glasses after the one liners... eg. Looks like the cove trainer is all TUCKered out!!! 8) (insert CSI music here)

Lets not return to this one boys. Simper was properly cleared to Brighton in 2006 from PHOS Camden. It may have been one of those in which PHOS didn't respond in the allotted time but who cares. SFL registered him, end of story. 30 something games later for Brighton including SFL rep. honours, someone from PHOS who is a mate of some Reynella people came to Prelim, sees Simper, and reckons PHOS never cleared him. Reynella inquire with SFL who said Simper was cleared and registered, but they wouldn't let it go and had the audacity to challenge whether clearance was done properly 18 months earlier. It was ridiculous, embarrassing and insulting. They just couldn't accept that they could lose a Prelim to a bunch of kids who made them look old and slow. The funniest thing of all was that Reynella were told to keep training GF week just in case. 31 years has sent them stir crazy.

I don't know whether anyone remembers the first showdown of the year, there was an injured crows player at half forward, the hit on him was slightly late and other crows players went in for a push and shove with the port player. A player ended up being pushed over the injured crows man and fell onto the crows trainer who wa hurt in the incident, it was accidental and nothing came out of it. Sure we don't like seeing trainers getting hurt but they do work in some heated areas (which is why we appreciate what they do) and accidents do happen.

Newer posters may want to check out the thread "Newsflash - SFL" for more on this particular incident that i cant believe WFOTW brought up again.

The Mexican is still incensed by it, and i often quote passages from this thread just to rile him.

Apparently the players reluctantly trained on the Tuesday under orders from the Pres, then matter was put to bed about 24 hours later.

Thats me done for a few days boys. I've got Saturday to prepare for and need a break from the cut and thrust of the forum. I think I'll check back in on Friday arvo for a look. Wedgie will be pleased with all the activity which justifies our own Thread. Others must read some of this and think we go to war every weekend. Bring on the "Battle of Bice" this Saturday.

I think this is why its so hard for tribunals. I did see it, but now I starting to doubt what I actually saw. Incidents like this happen so quickly and its hard to focus on everything, especially in this case when there is a player down, 2 trainers, a cove player, a brighton player and an umpire. But the Brighton player went down and Cove no.9 stood over him as if he was there to stand the mark. The umpire charged in to pay the free. Simultaneoulsy the Cove trainer flew in behind the Cove player as a Brighton player reminstrated with no.9 from the front. I just think that maybe the force of the Brighton player having a go at no.9 may have caused contact with the trainer who by now had gone down on his knees to attend to the injured player. Correct me if I am wrong but photos of the injury were taken so they would be interesting?

That trainer went down too easily, it was like an "injured" soccer player. But full credit to the trainers everywhere, they do a mervellous job and amazingly, 95% are volunteers!
