I think the first week of finals should have the 2 double chance games on the Saturday and the 2 knockout games on Sunday. The following Semi week should have both games played on the Saturday and the following Prelim week also should have both games played on the Saturday. Then when it comes to the GF both teams have equal rest. Personally I hate playing on Sundays, and the 6 instead of 7 days off does make a difference to me.
I’m sure this is a deliberate concoction from the League in a attempt to get people to go to both games. It’s a bit of a joke though as in all my playing and supporting years I have NEVER gone to both Saturday and Sundays finals games unless my club was playing on both days. Then I’m stuck paying $6 for 1 Saturday U14 game and another $6 for the Sunday B Grade game, ?? aha there you go it’s so the league can screw $12 from the supporters, why am I not surprised. Far be it for the League to HELP by letting you watch the early first game on Saturday, get a pass out and head to the other later game after on the same day.

If a club has it's A grade and B grade playing at different grounds on the same day how are they going to work out issues such as trainers and even simple stuff like water bottles and tape?

Good point Brock, But it does happen during the first week of finals and the clubs involved get around this matter. At the end of the day, the trainers especially would rather their boys get an extra days rest, so they get the full week to recover and hopefully bring home the flag. A small price to pay i think! :D

Spot on Kernas.
The Sunday for the elimination is justified as a penalty for coming bottom 4 of the 8, you should have a 6 instead of 7 day turn around. After that week's over though it should be all Saturdays from then on. On the club resources issue Brock, any club with the strength to have more than 2 teams in the finals will definitely be able to manage it.

It seems that even though it is against the general consensus of the forum the forum may have needed Reynella to win on the weekend to generate discussion good, bad or otherwise. All is a little slow going this week even with two huge games on the weekend.

My tips – Cove by 5 goals, Morphett Vale by 3 goals.

I recon your close Reader,
Here's a weather report for both days, looks like the Sunday winner will have to back it up with only a 6 day turnaround AND a leg tiring wet and windy game.
Saturday Fine mostly sunney 24deg
Sunday Windy showers 18deg
Were is the parity for the teams making the GF??
Good job SFL!!

Regarding the Saturday/Sunday finals. When common sense was handed out the good gentlemen of the SFL were not present. They had their heads in the sand.

The SFL will tell you that the series is run how the clubs want it. Unfortunately the good gentlmen will not listen to what anyone else has to say as they are pig headed and obnoxious.

Saying all that if the clubs are concerned they need to front the SFL united and get it changed, as this has not happened one can only assume that the clubs are happy about it or dont really care.

Go you cockledivers this weekend! Credit to old Normy, with the young team he's got running around out there. He certainly knows how to get the best out of his players. :D

I have not been down the club this week to see if anyone is sore or not.. I dont know what DTH has to say.. but maybe he has the muzzle this week.
I think the game plan is to run like hell... you M/vale blokes are looking old.

No muzzle guys, just playing it low key leading into Prelim weekend. Bombers only club to have 4 teams still alive in the Saturday stuff so business as usual this week. We haven't been full strength all year but with 30 blokes capable of playing solid A grade footy we can manage.

We have a great record at the Shoe. I think we have only ever lost 1 or 2 home and away against the Shoes in 12 seasons and our loss to Cove 2 weeks ago still makes us about 5-2 in finals. We've never played the Emus there. Key for us is to start well and lead throughout or at worse stay in touch and hopefully storm home in last quarter. This was how I hoped the Cove game was supposed to pan out but we just couldn't get our hand on the ball in the last quarter 2 weeks ago.

I'm tipping an omen with Glenelg taking out the SANFL Minor Premiership and 2 of their zone clubs, Cove and Brighton playing off in the GF.

Should be a good game at the Port this saturday as we all know what Porties are capable of come September. From my knowledge no changes to the Divers lineup.

After watching porties on sunday i agree i think they are a big chance their spine is as good as anyones and if they can get on top early they are a great confidence side when up and going they didnt really ever give valleys a stiff. One thing that surprised me was how tall they are.should be a craker on saturday.

So it's a possibility Morphies could win all three senior grades, does anyone think they are a realistic chance.. ? I rate their B grade chances more than their A's this year!

Lets hope Brighton or Cove spoil the party!! too many September parties in the bronx over the last few years! :partyman:

Has the treble ever been accomplished in the SFL before? If so who and when? I cant remember it happening in recent times...

Also i think Reynella would be favourites to take out the B grade now there A grade is out. Imagine there would be a few that have qualified.
