Things like this in footy happen all the time and I have it on very good authority that this certainly was not the palyers decision. Footy clubs don't and shouldn't work like that, Reynella are no different. This decision was made by Evans and the commitee. People get carried away with any reynella issue. Fact is Reynella played in 2 x grandfinals, the next year they lost a Prelim, the year after they didnt make the prelim. No one suggests that this was the coach's fault, but things happen and Evans decided to pull the pin. He has done some great things for the club including bring in some very good players. End of story - things will be said on here, but read into it what you like.

Fact is that these results in any other era could have been a lot different if Morphett Vale were not so dominant. People forget the rest of leagues coaches have also not claimed grand final victory in Evans coaching stint at Reynella.

Morphett Vale by 3 goals is my tip, after the last two finals games they are in dangerous form.

From an outsider looking in it seems he put alot of time and effort into Reynella and came across as a fairly decent bloke. But did he focus too much on recruiting those elusive players to help win a Premiership rather than backing his coaching ability to work with most of what he had. Did he go a bit easy on the gun players in terms of training and fitness which normally filters through the whole group because its fair to say that Reynella's achilles heel these last 2 seasons has been its ability to run out a full game against the top sides and leg speed.

I'm not sure of Edwardstown coaching situation with Golding but if Edwardstown are coming in to the SFL, I'm sure Evans will be putting his hand up. Based on an earlier rumour, could we see a Golding and Evans swap.

Be interesting to see if Golding does stay on if they are making the move. You would think it would be a good challenge for him unless he knows which of the current players won't be going with him?

All I hear on this forum lots of negatives about him.
What players was he responsible for attracting? Robbo and Moore were former players
is my understanding.

I am very anti-Evans, but yes he did bring Robbo and Moore back to the club (with $$$'s) and he brought Butcher (that didn't work out for him) along with another couple of players. Heart was in the right place, just wasn't the right man for the job, wasn't when he started and obviously isn't now. The rumour of either Evans having to leave or A grade players is a correct one. Not the best situation to have in a club but it does happen quite often.

Here's to Reynella moving on and threatening the Premiership again next year :partyman:

Big matches all the way through this year boys ! Hot favorites under the pump all day long.
In the Eighteens and the Sixteens the minor premier is playing a side they have not beaten this year, while the first game sees the minor prem back for another crack at the side who pumped them in the Qual Final.
Then we finish off with this cracker of an A-Grade match ! The Rookie has beaten the master both times they have met, but the master is Morphett Vale at its Finals Best ---- what a showdown !! :D

Continued debate on the best venue for SFL's big day, but I can't forget another reason why Porties shouldn't get it back and thats the bloody scoreboard. The person(s) doing the scorebaord last Saturday was a joke. They got the scores wrong all day and not just by the odd point. At full-time in the B grade the scoreboard read BB 6-9 to MV 6-8, when the final score was 7-11 to 5-7. Work that out. Not the first time this has occurred at Porties in Home and Away and Finals. Even the bloke who fell asleep a few years ago would have done a better job. Its not all about making big money on BBQ and Beers, Porties. Show some respect to the $6 paying spectators. Most may go to the BBQ once and the Bar 3 or 4 times but will look at the scoreboard over 100 times during the day.

They were very lucky the drawn Under 16 game happened the next day at the Shoe, because a bad scoreboard error can cause players to play out out the dying stages differently and change the result of a game.

Anyway, lets hope a big day tomorrow and close games throughout. Tough gig for the Under 14's. 8am start and being a GF, coaches will want players at ground by 7am. Parents and players deserve a medal for that alone.

Agreed DTH the Under 14 players, parents and supporters all deserve a medal ESPECIALLY the ones that will stay for the day, like some Cove and Brighton supporters who have sides throughout the day. Any changes are we aware..I was unable to get to Cove therefore unsure on there side, i doubt highly if there was any changes tho...Anyone know if MV made more changes than the forced one??
Going to be a cracker day tomorrow... 2 sides with different form leading in MV being decisive in all 4 quarters of both there finals and Cove showing some brilliant qtrs in there 2 finals and yet to play 4 quarters to get themselves there BUT both great sides... MV and there finals experience against an up and coming side thats had just the one hiccup for the year.... Big day great crowd tremendous players...All is ready

Great passion Jono. Brighton and Cove have had some issues lately but a Cove win in the A grade would be great for Ralphy Platten who has done a mountain of work for your club and deserves every success tomorrow.

I'm still tipping the Emus though by 3 or 4 goals. Not an easy ground to score big on so I reckon something like 12 goals to 8 or 9 goals.

I'm going a little differently, Cove by 2 goals.

Best team all year, and had a real hard hit out by Porties last game. Many teams who waltz through Prelims often come up short in the big one (although I doubt very much the all conquering Emus will fall for that).

Good luck both teams, and GO YOU FLAGGY UNDER 14s!!!

For something as important as the score the league should be providing someone to do it at every oval in the finals. You can’t leave it to a person who might be affiliated with the club on the field. Incompetence and conflict of interest have to be addressed. I mean that’s why you don’t get to use your own goal umpires in the finals right.
And on the goal umpires they should be able to get the scoreboard changed at every break and stop the game in the last quarter to get it fixed if the scoreboard is wrong.
HELLO ….. It’s finals people.

As for the Sterile Panthers ground, their score board attendant has always been slow as, at changing the score. If it’s the same guy this year do a little test, see if he gets the board changed before the next bounce of the ball.

Also on the Sterile Panthers venue can we not have the clock on the south east pocket ticking over till the siren. If you are not going to have time-on in the non A Grade finals games don’t display the clock either. It’s going to cause a big stink one day. SFL you have been warned. [/quote]

I can see what your saying about waltzing into a GF with an easy prelim, but I dont think this applies to the emus. although they did win easily. anyone who was there would atest that it was through the emus great attack on the footy and skills that they won the way they did. they were still playing against quality opposition (even beter than the opposition cove had??) which is different to "waltzing in".

If the emus dont get ahead of themselves and play the same football for 4 quarters as they did in the prelim, I wonder if there is anything cove could do to get up? the start of the sentence is the big question tho......IF!!!!!!!!

Thoughts?
Beat the whites of eggs with a pinch of salt until stiff...Continue beating, gradually adding sugar, vinegar and vanilla, until of thick consistency.

Can the Morphett Boys win it if it gets close or they get behind?
That's the million dollar question.
All year top teams have to play S..t teams and win by 20+
You at least hope heading to the finals games you draw some above average teams to steel your metal. But if you win by big margins IN your finals campaign are you gona be poorly prepared for the big dance with a real team against you.
On that theory I say Cove by 4 goals.
