Kangy sure did win the Flag in 2000.
Then Lonsdale won it in 2001, knocking over Kangy in the Grand Final. (Sullies made the four but went out in the Knockout Semi)
The "all in" Division started in 2002 !!

Meanwhile, I'm getting a little sick of posts highlighting a question from Shoe Boy to me which was "hijacked" by another poster.
Just in case people haven't picked it up ----- the "BTP" appearing in the middle of the quotes does not necessarily mean I made the answer below it.
I assure Edwardstown people, Bag The Points has never stated on here that their club should "bugger off".
My actual answer was made in the post immediately above it.

no matter what word is used, he was NEVER going to be the reynella coach in 2009. . . The club has gone backwards in the 2 years he was there. . and if he coached in 2009 it would have gone even further.

Dude, this site is full of rumour and opinion . . Thats what its all about! . . . Forum as defined in the dictionary is a place for public discussion. . . I am telling what i hear and am told and you do the same, people are smart enough to make their own decisions on what they read on here. . .If your saying everyone at Reynella was happy with him then thats fine, All i am saying is not everyone was. . . If everyone agreed on here it would be bloody boring!

REASONS FOR BAILING OUT ON THE SFL.

With Kangas, McLaren, Macclesfield, Meadows I’d put it down to the closeness to the other leagues they moved into and they didn’t want to get thrashed by the good Div1 SFL sides. They basically chickened out.

Mitchell Park thought they would be up to pace with the top teams but were sadly mistaken so before they lost all their supporters they left with their tail between their legs. Beware Edwardstown this sounds like your future.

Plympton got into trouble with the SFL after some silly antics on 1989 GF Mad Monday. I think they got put on a good behavior bond but didn’t like it.
They thought cos they won three GFs in a row they were being victimised so they left to the Armatures League. Oh and now they are languishing in A3s so I guess that was a good move wasn’t it \:D/.
Basically got big heads

OSB got screwed by the soccer club no argument there.

Willunga the saddest loss. I think just wanted to play in the Great Southern. after all they are a typical country club in a country area. On results and support a good decision don’t you think. Basically SFL got too metropolitan for them.

I have to take you up on that Bringback, Mclaren were begging SFL to let them play div1 after 2000, but they lost the GF and SFl rules were a team had to win the GF to go up . . SO when Pt elliott pulled out of the GSFl it was perfect chance for Mclaren to play div 1 style footy. . . The club was strong, financial and had good numbers and quality players. . Mclaren is only 2mins from Willunga, so it made sense. . but the preferred option was to play div 1 SFL.
Have to say it worked for them also. . They won an A grade flag in 2003.

Ah McLarren.
A lot of them use to talk themselves up back then on how they were as good as the top SFL clubs. It’s a pity they didn’t get the chance cos they would have got their asses kicked. And secretly I think they new that. That's why they bailed.
And I reco they spent a few bucks getting that 03 flag too.
3rd to bottom this year wasn't it.

Sounds like Fly might be Evans himself! Or someone very closely associated with him, registered a new name yet, Towny? maybe? Definately a soft spot with him.

Wrong again sorry bringback, , , only 2 players in the GF team paid above the standard pay. . . At least Mclaren would have contributed junior and senior sides to the SFL in all grades each year. . A lot more then can be said for some current SFL clubs.

Plympton spent a lot of time in Div 3, but have dropped to div 5 in the last one or two seasons; although just missed out on promotion this year.

Apart from Kangies', Mclaren and Meadows left the league before it reverted to one division. So it's think it is quite false to say the chickened out of playing division 1. Not sure of the state of the league when Macclesfield left?

Compare Edwardstown to Mitchell Park at your own peril.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.
