I do beleive that the club is bigger than any player or players but if true must be of concern.

This same s***t happens every single year, talk of good players leaving, going to other leagues etc. I heard that there was going to be a big walk out if the coaching posistion didn't change a Morphies, but I would of though that the Emu's would of been gutted watching cove win what would of/ could of been their 5th flag, and be ultra pumped to stay together and make next year a winner?

I'm backing in the senior players down there to hold 'em all together

Did also hear that big Shorty has had talks to a couple of South East clubs??? Can anyone confirm...?

It has to be a tough thing for a club to do let's be honest. When guys are playing with mates for next to nothing and are that successful, other clubs are going to be knocking at their door to try and recruit them away from the club and offering a lot of money to do so. While that club is winning premierships it wouldn't be as hard, but you would think once you lose that first GF surely players would start thinking more about themselves rather than the team? You owe nothing to the club, why not go out and make some good money???
Thoughts?

As much as i hate sayn it p32 i have to agree, family and home life is the most important thing and you have to look after no1 absolutely no doubt about it.I just get the shits coz if its easy enough for one club to be able to make money, then it should be just as easy at the next club to do the same.

that is all good and well but where have the days gone when you play with the same group of guys from juniors all the way through to the senior ranks. sure if you are good enough to be paid then go and chase the money but would you really get the appreciation of playing and getting a life membership or only being acknowledge for 1. if you are performing and 2. for only the time you are there until the club run out of cash or a better offer comes up. after all it is only a amatuer level of football.

Well sounds like Shoes might move up the ladder a couple spots if they get some recruits and all goes according to plan.

Any news outta Porties, with the right recruits could have a major impact come September. Only missed out by a little bit last year. Nick Manhood and Mannion playing this year Observer?

I guess we will all know more in the new year when people start to make their minds up.

A few clubs exist in Amatuer league that do not play players and are relatively successful compared to a number of clubs that do pay. Apart from that, the best you will get in terms of loyalty, is players playing for less at the "home", generally more successful clubs.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Do Hackham have to clear them, isn't there a rule stating the bottom club only has to clear 2 players to other SFL clubs? Just from memory, prob wrong.

Hey shoeboy sounds like you have good interest in your club from players but can any of these recruits play? Not having a go but sounds like your saying by getting recruits that an improvement is just going to happen and we all know that isn't always true (eg Reynella). Hey well done with getting new faces but other clubs do as well? I believe improvement in clubs comes within the current playing stocks that are willing to work harder to be better and recruits are the icing.

the only ruling on that i was aware of was that you can only hold a player if they were on a contract, a required player or un financial with the club. is that correct or are there different rulings to clearances????

who are the 4 that noarlunga have???...........Shoe Boy any clarification on this????

Would that be the way to go forward? Recruiting players from a club that can't win a game!

I thought that the Shoes were backing their youth. A young 'home grown" usually has a few more plusses going for him than a second rate import.

So who do suggest I play for Tigger? I've only being playing for 2 years, both have been for mates that are coaches and now I can't play in the country due to other commitments, so should I just not play? If clubs are willing to offer good money, why should I turn it down? I played basketball for 10 years at one club for next to nothing, why not earn a buck or two in a sport while I can? If I can help a club reach their ultimate goal at the same time then I can guarantee they will say it's money well spent. And considering both clubs that I have played for asked me to come back, then I can't be as shit as you say!

P32 if you tell yourself something often enough you will eventually believe it. Life is about respect, self respect. You probably had respect in basketball circles but in footy if you go out actively seeking dollars from the highest bidder you will always be a footy Whore and wherever you play will have little or no respect from the die hard fans and people who work to clubs afloat, Everybody will watch you and be critical of everything you do, pressure to perform, most of all you eventually miss out on the great friendships footy produces. I don't know you from a bar of soap but writing things like "I can guarantee they will say it's money well spent" is a crock of S**t

No problem going to a club to get paid but surely if you are worth the money the club will pay it again the following year, every year you see guys like Thomas (Morphettville Park, Marion etc.) at a different club, surely the money can't be continually increasing, so maybe the clubs are just realising he's not worth it.

I think there are a lot more players in the SFL (Gaskin, Baylys x2, Carpenter??) that could get paid well in other leagues that choose to have a bit of club loyalty and build life long friendships. In 20 years time that extra $5k (IF your good) in the pocket won't pat you on the back and have a beer with you.

If the reason you left Jervois was solely for the distance and time fair enough P32, who could be @rsed doing that every week if it makes life a strain.
