So who do suggest I play for Tigger? I've only being playing for 2 years, both have been for mates that are coaches and now I can't play in the country due to other commitments, so should I just not play? If clubs are willing to offer good money, why should I turn it down? I played basketball for 10 years at one club for next to nothing, why not earn a buck or two in a sport while I can? If I can help a club reach their ultimate goal at the same time then I can guarantee they will say it's money well spent. And considering both clubs that I have played for asked me to come back, then I can't be as s***t as you say!

P32 if you tell yourself something often enough you will eventually believe it. Life is about respect, self respect. You probably had respect in basketball circles but in footy if you go out actively seeking dollars from the highest bidder you will always be a footy Whore and wherever you play will have little or no respect from the die hard fans and people who work to clubs afloat, Everybody will watch you and be critical of everything you do, pressure to perform, most of all you eventually miss out on the great friendships footy produces. I don't know you from a bar of soap but writing things like "I can guarantee they will say it's money well spent" is a crock of S**t

Mate, I have self respect. Everytime I step on the field I work my arse off and if you speak to anyone who has played with me or against me that would probably say the same. The only club I actively approached this year was Reynella, so to say I actively went out to seek dollars is a crock of shit. I would happily give you the phone numbers of my past two coaches and presidents and you can ask them if they respect me. Other than those people, I don't give a shit on your opinion, as you said you don't know me from a bar of soap and don't know my situation, so stop hiding behind your little keyboard making judgements champ. Next time your club plays Reynella, I will happily pay your entrance fee to watch and then maybe you can make your own judgement!

.

...........I think there are a lot more players in the SFL (Gaskin, Baylys x2, Carpenter??) that could get paid well in other leagues that choose to have a bit of club loyalty and build life long friendships. In 20 years time that extra $5k (IF your good) in the pocket won't pat you on the back and have a beer with you...................

You would think that Carpenter's A Grade days are behind him, but he is definately a one club man who looks like he's going to keep going in whatever grade for the Emus until he can't pull his boots on anymore.

What do you think Mex?

P32, didn't you tell a work mate who plays for Mt Compass that you would be keen to talk to them as you wanted to play closer to home but when the coach actually rang you, you said you had no interest in playing in the GSFL again? Seems a little strange?

P32 did other clubs showed interest? If so why did you pick the winies was it the dollars or did you know people?

Also was having a bet today and had a conversation with a person and he has informed me that a certain ex SANFL and AFL player that retired from footy this year has showed interest in moving a bit further south up brighton road to have a kick at a club where he started playing in his junior days. It is almost a done deal but the certain club has to fill somethink first.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like Matthew Bode to me. Would have thought he'd be too busy with his new business though.

No, I mentioned to a guy from work who was from McLarens that I wanted to play closer to home, he told another work colleague who plays for Compass that so he got his coach to call me with which I told straight away I couldn't play in the GSFL due to committments on saturday night, which meant I had to play closer to Marion.

I spoke to 3 other clubs, all who contacted me, but chose Reynella due to the fact that they have been up there in the top 5 for the last couple of years and have lacked a ruckman.

Agree, stupid argument. People are different, not just in footy circles but in society. If they were'nt it would be a pretty boring life. Another question, if you knew he was getting good money at your club and your club won the flag and he was an integral part of it happening would you still have the same opinion? Let it go people.....

yeah i agree. dont know you p32 but as you said you need somewhere local or not play at all.for some reason everyone is nailing you pretty hard. youve played footy for two years different circumstance to if hed played all his juniors somewhere and then went dollar hunting.maybe if you change again next year then you would get some bad press but i think he is copping reynellas bad name.

Calling P32 out as a footy slut was the funniest thing that ever happened to this thread!

Who else can we call a footy slut?

JJ Allen? He has obviously been given a lot of pies and hot chips for his services!

GO THE PUNT wrote:Hey shoeboy sounds like you have good interest in your club from players but can any of these recruits play? Not having a go but sounds like your saying by getting recruits that an improvement is just going to happen and we all know that isn't always true (eg Reynella). Hey well done with getting new faces but other clubs do as well? I believe improvement in clubs comes within the current playing stocks that are willing to work harder to be better and recruits are the icing.

Would that be the way to go forward? Recruiting players from a club that can't win a game!

I thought that the Shoes were backing their youth. A young 'home grown" usually has a few more plusses going for him than a second rate import.

sss the mail re Hackham is incorrect.
As for the youth they have been our focus for the past 2 years and will continue to be with this year 12 coming out of our 18 and playing seniour footy and this will continue for the years to come with the work that has been put into the juniour programme.
