Brighton are my cup favourites. They will be in the GF at a minimum.Quote AFLflyer
Brighton seem to be going about their business quietly and im sure with their awesome under 18s and some recruits they will be there at the business end of the season. Definate top 4 you would think but hard to go past Cove and Emus. Has Sneeza been appointed full time coach or is it still in a caretaker capacity?

John Schneebichler has officially been appointed as Coach of the Bombers for 2009 with experienced ex SFL players in Clint Godwin and Andy Germain as his Assistants. Neil Wuttke maintains his role as B grade Coach. In addition to his outstanding playing record, Sneezer has coached SANFL Reserves and also headed up the Glenelg Football Operations Dept. a few years back. He's hardly missed a Brighton A grade game in the last 5 years due to following his son Leigh and also assisted David Marshall in 2006 and 2007. He knows the SFL well and has set about addressing the gaps in our senior playing group. Cove will be the team to beat again in 2009, and we hope to be one of the genuine challengers.

And yes GTP, we have added some much needed height from outside the SFL along with some very good young lads returning from the Bay plus plenty of Under 18 premiership players.

Welcome back DTH all we need is MEX and a few others back on line and season 2009 will be well under way.
Tell Me DTH are the new recruits signed or will it be like every year down at Brighton.

Found this on the Flaggies Web Site Family registration day. Just wondering what premiership team they are refering to

You are invited to attend our 2009 Falcon Family Fun Day - Auskick to A Grade. Meet the 2008 premiership team & coach. Southern Football League team of the year players – as well as all of the coaches and junior / senior squads for 2009.

Creative advertising I think. :o

Seems to me you think you know a bit about the inner workings of our club Spanner. As far as I know all new players are signed and contracted for 2009. Our first priority with any new player is that they play for the Guernsey and any remuneration will look after itself. The money that seems to have come back into community footy is a bit of a worry however the demands that are getting placed on the players with most clubs commencing training in November/early December makes it difficult. In effect, part of a players payment is just as much about compensating the player for all his efforts during pre-season and whats expected of him at other times other than just game day.

Speccy: Reade the comment properly.

It is good advertising. Anyone reading who doesn't know the SFL would automatically be attracted to a premiership club.

DTH what players took the pay cuts this year to fit in the recruits? I would hope that the players that took it last year will go back up now that statham left you guys. Not bad from a bloke who said he was playing for the jumper. Took money from his mates for 1 year and thought thats ok I will leave now. All I can say is that its his loss I think you will give it a good shake this year. All I can say is Brighton bosses stay loyal to the ones that bleed for the club.

go the punt are you saying if you got offered 900 a game you wouldnt play for a new team this year. that is alot more than some people make in a week. think youll find that his team mates were telling him to take it. i think youll find also most players are on club dollars to be spent over the bar with the a very few on very small amount on top of that

If i had a son in the age bracket to play U14's id bring him down...or younger kids because they would look up to the kids above them...

And even U/16s because some of those premiership players would be going up this year.
